Gabriel sighed. "I've lost it already. I'm talking to a fucking flower. It would be different if it could actually talk back, but I am talking to an inanimate object."
He heard leaves rustling and immediately turned to face the sound. "Cas?" It was not Cas. It was just the wind, and Gabriel had gotten excited. He had hoped he wouldn't be alone.
The archangel sighed, his wings drooping. Of course he was alone. His dad had probably heard him earlier, and was in no mood to help.
"Look. I'm sorry, I guess. I was just mad. Could you send someone down here so I don't go batshit crazy? Anyone except Lucifer. I'll even take Michael as a companion. Just... please?" He looked up to the sky, searching for some sign that his father had heard him.
Nothing happened. No thunder, no beam of light, nothing. Gabriel was still on his own.
He scowled. "Well fine then. Be that way. I don't care anymore. I'll just make do. I'll just start over. Oh wait! I could just disappear forever. That is a much better option. Isn't it, dad? I bet Lucifer would be pleased. He always was your favorite. Everyone knew that. And it just wasn't fair. You never even gave us a chance to prove ourselves to you. It's either Cas or Lucifer. They're the only ones you care about, aren't they?"
Gabriel sighed and turned to look at the flower again. "Sorry, bud. I gotta run. Stay safe." And with that, the archangel walked off to investigate.
He looked around. This place was surprisingly alive with plants and animals. The sound of a trickling stream nearby made the archangel smile. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
