Thunderous was Zeus’ younger brother. His power was the ability to command thunder. He is the unknown brother. The reason you haven't heard of him is because he was banished from Mt. Olympus by the mighty Zeus himself. Thunderous was supposed to work with Zeus. When Zeus used his lightning, Thunderous was supposed to use his thunder by clapping his hands. But after a few centuries, Thunderous got bored. One day he said to his brother, “Brother I’ve had enough of this nonsense. I’ve been repeating the same thing for centuries. I’m tired and want to rest”. But the mighty Zeus said to his brother, “No brother, you may not stop your duty. It is our responsibility to create rain together. Without each other, we can’t produce the water for Mother Nature and the land will die.” “But brother, just this once,” pleaded Thunderous. “No” said Zeus. “This is our duty for all eternity.” Infuriated by Zeus’ response, Thunderous left Mt. Olympus to find a new home. But as he thought to himself, an idea dawned on him, “I don't have to listen to my brother. He is not in command of me.” So instead of leaving, he returned to his throne and sat on it, and after a while he fell into a deep sleep. But when Mother Nature cried for water, Thunderous was nowhere to be found. Zeus went looking for Thunderous and found him asleep on his throne. This irritated Zeus and he woke Thunderous to get him to make the thunder. But Thunderous refused to help. “You are to help me immediately!” insisted Zeus. “Who are you to tell me what to do?” said Thunderous. “Besides I like my way. I will listen to you no more, because you are not my master”. Zeus said, “You are younger than I, so you shall do as I command!” “It may be true that you older than me” said Thunderous, “but that doesn’t mean you can tell me what to do.” By this time, Zeus was enraged. He shouted, “BY THE POWER OF THE GODS, I HEREBY BANISH YOU FROM MT. OLYMPUS!” And with that, Thunderous lost his power to command thunder and Zeus gained it. Then Thunderous was sent to earth, whereMother Nature trapped him within a patch of briars, deep in the heart of the forest. “Brother forgive me!” pleaded Thunderous. “I was wrong. You are the commander of I”. “No” said Zeus, “I am not, but I am the one that is older, and you are not supposed to doubt my wisdom. And for disobeying me, you are banished forever, and are never allowed to return. I’m sorry, brother; this is the way it must be.” “No, no please!” begged Thunderous. “I’m sorry brother,” said Zeus. Ever since then, Thunderous has been trapped in the forest. And to this day, if you go deep into the forest and listen carefully, you can still hear Thunderous pleading with Zeus to forgive him, and Zeus saying, “I’m sorry. You shall forever be Natures prisoner.”
