That Butler, Suffering

Ciel has been noticing that the mansion is... dirtier than usual. Normally, a speck of dust could not be found anywhere, but lately it has lined the railings and rested on bookshelves. It was off, Ciel thought. Maybe Sebastian had finally decided to let MeyRin do the cleaning (she is the maid after all)? She wasn't doing a very good job of it though (as usual)... No matter, guests were not coming over anytime soon. It was not that big of a deal.

In the study Ciel was getting hungry and commanded Sebastian to come. He was always at the door in what seemed like a matter of seconds, however those seconds turned to minutes. Ciel was not a patient person and did not like waiting for his butler at all. "Sebastian!" He ordered again, and soon enough Sebastian knocked on the door and came in.

"What is it, My Lord?" He asked like nothing was wrong. That idiot! He's always going on about schedules and the timing must be perfect and whatnot.

"You're late. Why is that?" Ciel questioned, and when the butler was about to answer, he noticed that there was a brightly colored flower petal stuck to his tailcoat, near the head butler's pin on his chest. "And why is there a flower petal on you? That's odd. It doesn't seem to follow your 'butler aesthetic,' does it?" It reminded Ciel that he had been seeing scattered flower petals across the floors in the mansion lately, but he didn't really question it until now. He thought maybe one of the idiots broke a flower vase and they were trying to clean it up or something.

Sebastian was quiet, unsure of how to respond. Ciel waited for an answer, and Sebastian finally spoke. "You see, My Lord," the demon cleared his throat. "I... suffer from one-sided love, and one of the side effects of this is coughing up flower petals. It's called the Hanahaki disease," Sebastian explained. So that answers the question of why there were flower petals everywhere. New questions rose from Ciel.

"How do you cure this illness?" He wondered. It worried him that his demon butler was throwing up flower petals due to unrequited love.

"It can be surgically removed, but the romantic feelings are removed along with the petals. Although it can be cured without side effects if the love is returned." Sebastian explains further. He tenses up, knowing what his master's next question would be.

"Who exactly is it that you love so much?"

Sebastian blushed lightly from a mix of emotions, ranging from embarrassment to anxiousness. As the Phantomhive butler, he must answer any and all questions his master asks him. "Forgive me, but... It is you who I love so dearly."
