After the funeral, Obadiah took Gabi and Hazel home.He pulled into the driveway. They walked up to the door and Gabie took out her hose kye. "Hey, Gabi how did you get in my apartment?" he asked. You gave me a spare key before you left remember" she replied. Once inside he helped Gabi and Hazel pack clothes, shoes, irreplaceable items etc. As Hazel rummages through her mother's room, she found an old picture of their mom, her, and Gabi.
Tears run down her face. Obadiah and Gabi are downstairs packing stuff. "Where's Hazel?" he asked. "She's upstairs" Gabi replied. "What's she doing?" he asked. "She's grabbing pictures and other items that belonged to our mom," Gabi told him as she places fragile items in boxes.
Hazel walked down with a box in hand and a picture in the other. she walks into the living room where Obadiah and Gabi are. "Hey sis," she said getting Babi's attention. Gabi turned around and notices tears in Hazel eyes. Hazel, what's wrong?" she asked. Obadiah turns around a few moments after. "remember when this got taken?" Hazel asked while tears run down her face. Gabi took the photo from Hazel.
"Yeah, you were three years old when this was taken," Gabi told them. "I know where to put this," she says grabbing a box labeled Super Special Items. "We'll put this in here with all the other special things. Gabi opened the box and carefully placed the picture inside. Hazel cries as the Gabi seals the box. Obadiah takes Hazel's hand and holds her in his arms. Hazel eventually stopped crying and smiles."There's that smile" he said wiping the remaining tears from her eyes.
"Come on it's time to go" he continued. Some of the neighbors came over to help unload some of the stuff. They load the car, Hazel holds onto the box with the picture in it. Everyone says their goodbyes as Obadiah backs out the driveway. Hazel held on to that box and didn't let anyone else touch it. Once they got to the airport woman was there waiting for them. He pulled up to gate, the woman approached the car. Are you Obadiah party of three?" she asked. "Yes?" he replied.
"A nice came earlier and paid for the whole fight" she explained. "First class and everything" she continued. "Did you get her name?" he asked. "Yes her name was Rebecca Roswell" she replied. He smiled, do you know where our flight is?" "Yes, follow the lavender line all the way down and then make a left, your flight is the one prepping for takeoff" she explained. "Thank you," he said as he drove off. "Who's Rebecca?" Gabi asked. "An old friend of my family" he replied.
"There it is," Hazel said pointing to a man with two bright orange flags in his hands. Obadiah turned the car in the man's direction. Once they reached the plain he stopped the car next to the man. "You must be Obadiah," the man said. "That's me" he replied. "Follow me and I'll show where your car goes," the man told him. So Obadiah followed the man into the frontal cargo bay. The man directed them to an empty space.
"So the car won't slide anywhere," he said locking the wheels in place. After that was done the man handed Obadiah the key to the wheel lock. Don't lose this without it, you won't be able to get your car out of here," the man explained. Obadiah took the key and placed it in a pocket on the inside of his jacket. The man radios the pilot " the final passenger is on board" he said. "Rodger that" the pilot replied.
"Now let me show you to your seats," the man said with a smile. "You were informed that you'll be riding first class?" When they got to their seats Hazel got in the seat closest to the window. She still holding the box that has the picture in it. Twenty minutes after the plane took off Hazel started dozing off. So Hazel climbed into Obadiah's lap, with the box in hand she fell asleep. "Sweet dreams," he said putting his arms around her.
