The air was steel and cold. The sun hid behind the mountain top causing the sky to turn a bright orange color-like it was on fire; Eerie and unsettling. My throat swelled and my stomach turned.
Hope slowly smoldered away.
I don't want to be left in the dark. Darkness didn't scare me; being alone did. I tried screaming but, no air would flow out. My chest felt compressd, like a heavy weight on it.
Cold sweat rolled down the side of my head. I tried to breathe in, but couldn't. My eyes were wide open and dried out. The last bit of light shined behind the mountain. When the sun disappears, my soul would go with it.Is this how I'm going to die? Tears filled up my eyelids. No, I don't want to go out like this. I clenched my fist. I will not give in to this darkness! Violence and blood filled my thoughts. I have no strength left. Please sun, come back.
My friends are gone, my mother's gone. I released the grip I had on my fist. Maybe it would be better if I did go...
I pinched my eyes, waiting for it to happen. Goosebumps flared up my arm. Warmth touched my skin. Is this what death feels like? Warmth? The wind blew on my face. I gasped with amazement. The sun peeked over the mountain, lighting up my face, turning the sky blue. How could I have thought the sun was setting?
Icy crisp air poured into my lungs. The weight lifted off my chest. I closed my mouth and took another inhale through my nose. Smelling the salty and fishy air. Maybe there is hope? The sun lit the valley in front of me. I gazed slightly down in the distance. Flags on top of several towers gently blew through the wind. I looked closer, those aren't just towers. That's a castle. (A tall black metal fence circled and a golden gate taller than the fence stood before it.)
The vast mountain range curved around the valley for miles. There were houses made of stone, clay, and wood placed on top for the roofs.
Waves crashed upon rocks behind me and what sounded like, rain? I looked to my feet and gasped, as I had tunnel vision. I stood on top of a brick wall surrounding the Kingdom. I had a firm stance even though it wasn't very wide.
Wait, how'd I get up here? I turned to my right in a blur and was suddenly face to face with a red dragon. The eyes were black and soulless, its face narrowed down and the mouth hung open, showing its white razor-sharp teeth.I jerked back, and it was a man wearing a custom-made helmet. He wore an all red suit almost like a ninja and I assumed there was metal armor underneath where his muscles patruted.
The suit covered everything besides his metal boots designed like scales. His thick black glass pieces covered his eyes. Two red swords with short ridged edges like a saw rested on his back.
I turned to my left, another man in a dark grey suit. His silver helmet covered his whole head. Six holes were in front of his mouth so he could breathe. His hands up to his forearms were made of metal. His right arm raised above his head. Drops of water sprinkled on me. How is it raining, there's not a cloud in the sky?
Above me a metal ship hovered over slowly making its way over the Kingdom, dripping water from the sea. Chills ran down my spine as the ship began to tilt, blocking out the sun from my view. The whole ship was made of metal. With an upper deck on both sides like a pirate ship but no sails. How did it float?
I gazed back at the man with a dragon helmet. He casually looked at me and said. "Go ahead, show us how it's done." I nodded my head but I didn't mean to. I leaned on the edge and bent down.. What am I doing? I don't want to jump!Hate and violence brewed through my body, like I could feel a deep bloody firey pit in my stomach.
The ship dropped-I dived off the edge of the wall, falling at the same velocity as the ship headed nose first into the Kingdoms ground.
