Part Thirty-five

Raquel and Keysha didn't often have their hair done, even though both had long hair. Other kids came in with nice hair dues and nice chains around their necks, purses and other things that Keysha couldn't afford. Often she would get teased about her clothes and her lack of nice things and often she would throw a punch at them. After people saw how tough she was they stopped messing with her, although there was a few that would try her anyways. The security guards eventually came pulling the girls of off each other, sending them both to the principal's office. Keysha looked over at the girl she was fighting, looking up at her hair, seeing she pulled her fake ponytail out. "At least my ponytail is real" Keysha yell out, getting the girls attention. They was ready to go at it again but the principle got in between them both, taking them in her office one at a time.

later that day

A couple hours passed, Keysha sat in the principal's office until Anika came to pick her up. Keysha saw the look on her moms face, she wasn't happy at all. "Get your ass up, let's go" Anika said grabbing Keysha by the arm. They both made it to there car getting inside. "I'm mad I had to leave work to get your ass out of school, You think I can afford to keep missing work because you want to fight all damn day long" Anika said. Mom the girl was talking about my pants and about us being poor. I couldn't just let her talk about me like that. "So you gone beat up everybody that you come across that talks shit about you? If so you gone have a lot of ass whooping to do because it doesn't stop there" Anika said. People are going to talk about you, all your life girl, eventually you gonna have to find a way to not let it bother you, otherwise you gone be miserable your whole life. You can't beat the whole world up. Keysha didn't say a word, staring out the window thinking about what her mom was saying. Sometimes you have to just let stuff go, because somethings are not worth your time and energy. I'm not about to keep missing work dragging your ass out of school. You want us to lose our home and everything. Keysha shook her head, no. Alright then cut this shit out, you gone mess around and give them something to really talk about. Baby, we may not got the most of everything, but we got a roof over our head and clothes and food to eat. And It may not be that much but it's something and you should be grateful for that. Now you better pray that my Manager let me go back into work today. Anika and Keysha finally made it to the house, Anika dropped Keysha off. "You stay your little ass in the house and don't get into any more trouble please." Anika said driving off as Keysha enter the house.
