"Chris, can you please stop smoking? It's really bad for you, and I don't want anything to happen to you," you pleaded. You had always hated that your boyfriend smoked as much as he did, and you had always asked him to stop. And maybe this time he would

He looked at you and then dropped his cigarette on the sidewalk and put it out with his shoe. You smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Okay, I'll stop. For you Y/N. I promise. I'll go through with it." He said, smiling and taking your hand.

~Two Days Later~

You slammed your car door after you grabbed your purse. It had been a long day at work, and you just wanted to go home and cuddle with Chris. You walked up the pathway and unlocked the front door. The moment you did, a rush of smoke hit you and you heard loud music being blasted, and your heart sank. You kicked off your shoes and dropped your purse. You left the door open to ventilate the place.

You walked into the living room to see Chris with four of his friends, jamming out to the music and smoking. You pressed the power button on the boom box and Chris whipped around with an unlit cigarette and a lighter in his hand. His eyes widened and dropped the cigarette. Tears welled in your eyes, but you couldn't break down in front of all of them.

"All of you, out. Now," you said. All four of them got up, and walked out, not even bothering to put out their cigarettes. You slammed the door behind them and walked back to face Chris. You looked at him and snatched the cigarette out of his hand.

"Really Chris? You promised me! But you know what, I should have expected it. This isn't the first time you've broken a promise to me!" you yelled, throwing the cigarette on the floor.

"I know I've broken promises before, but you don't know how hard it is! I've been smoking for eight years! I can't just stop because you ask me to! And I won't actually stop until someone like my mom asks me! Not you!" He yells back. You take a step back.

"Okay. I'm sorry Chris. I guess I'm not that important," you said. You ran into the bedroom you guys shared and grabbed a duffel bag. You began throwing clothes into it when Chris walked in, tears streaming down his face. You looked at him and wiped a stray tear from your cheek. You went back to packing your clothes and he walked over and sat on the bed.

"I'm sorry Y/N. I didn't mean to say that. I'll stop. I promise. I can't lose you," he said, looking at you. You looked back at him and threw the duffel bag on the floor and hugged him.

"I'm sorry too. I forgive you. How about we go to the drug store and get some nicotine patches? You can start now." You said, smiling at Chris. He nodded and got up, leading you out to the car. You were ecstatic; he was finally going to quit smoking
