I woke up in the middle of the night to hear a blood hurling scream. I ran as fast as my legs could take me, I ended up in the kitchen. I looked over the counter to see my mom laying there, with a pool of blood around her on the floor. I screamed and cried out my moms name until my lungs gave out and everything went black.
I woke up confused, staring at a blank white ceiling. I slowly lifted my head and realized I was in a hospital bed with an IV in my wrist. I started to panic, I pulled the IV out my wrist, got out of bed, and ran. I opened the door running down the hallway, I had no idea where I was going but I knew I wanted to get out of here. I saw an elevator down the hall. When I got to the elevator I pushed the circular button. The elevator dinged and the doors slid open. I was still in a hospital gown, but that didn't stop me from walking into the elevator with one of the hospitals security guards. I pushed the button to the first floor. When the elevator dinged I walked out, spotted the front doors, and ran.
I ran to the front door hearing a loud voice yell, "STOP!"
I kept running not listening to anyone or anything, the voice again yelled, "STOP OR ILL TAZE YOU!"
I continued to run faster than I was before, thinking I lost the security guard chasing me, I was confident about making it out the front door. As I opened the front door I felt a stinging on my back. I fell to the ground and blacked out again.
I woke up once again, but this time I was in a hospital bed with a security guard standing at the door watching me. A doctor walked into the room. He sat next to my hospital bed.
The doctor asked, "Blake, do you remember anything from last night?"
I then answered, "Other than a bad dream, no."
"What was this dream about?"
"I saw my mom on the floor with blood surrounding her body."
"Anything else?"
"I remember screaming her name, then everything faded away."
"Well," the doctor said hesitantly, "that wasn't a dream, it was real."
I was confused about what the doctor had said, I thought to myself if last night really did happen. I asked the doctor where my mom was and what had happened. He told me my mother had been stabbed at approximately 2:14 AM. The doctor said the neighbors heard screaming and called the police. The police arrived at 2:31 AM and they had reported me and my mom both on the floor not responding. When the ambulance arrived, the doctor said, my mom was already dead, but I was passed out from shock. Most likely shock due to seeing my mother bleeding out on the floor, the doctor explained.
I started to tear up thinking about it.
The doctor said with a sad expression," The foster care system couldn't find any relatives to send you with, so they now have to send you into foster care."
I asked, "When do I leave?"
"Now."
I got out of the hospital bed and on a table to the right were my clothes from the night I found my mom on the floor. I put them on and I was walked to a black car with my head down. The doctor put me in the car with a woman in the front seat driving.
The woman in the drivers seat said, "Hi, I work for social services, I'll be driving you to foster care."
I rolled my eyes and looked away, she started the engine, put the car in drive and started driving. We drove for around 15 minutes before we got on the highway. A semi-truck was driving on the left side of us, I heard a loud sound that sounded like a balloon popping. The semi-truck swerved into the car, the driver swerved to the right, and I felt the car twist and turn as it was rolling upside down on the highway, I heard glass breaking and the cars roof scratching against the concrete. I felt my arm under stress from the car's door which was crushed in. The car made one last crash against the road and I felt my left arm snap and I screamed in pain. I heard yelling, screaming and honking but I no longer bothered to try and stay awake.
