"guess who?"
i could already tell who it was.
with a knowing smile, i pulled the hands away from my eyes and turned around to face the person, "kim jaEHWAN YOU RAT."
"long time no see, shin shortie!!" jaehwan gave me a few pats on the head with a satisfied look on his face, "you're almost the same height since the last time i saw you which was like two years ago."
i slapped his hand away from my head, rolling my eyes at his usual childish behavior.
"anyways, what are you two doing here?" i looked at both daehwi and jaehwan, "isn't it supposed to be class time right now?"
"hmm? i'm on my way to the library," jaehwan answered me almost immediately as if he knew that i was going to question him.
on the other hand, daehwi hesitated for a moment before a single word fell out of his mouth, "i— uhh... i was on my way to the bathroom."
i laughed and daehwi looked like a deer caught in the headlights. it was obvious that he was lying and skipping class.
"well, it was nice to see you guys, but mr. dark past and i need to finish up our tour," i nudged woojin, "so, i guess i'll see you guys around."
as i was about to leave, jaehwan grabbed my wrist and spun me around, "wait shin shortie, do you want to eat lunch with me and the guys? it's your first day here and you probably have no other friends."
"you should eat with us! i think it'll be fun!" daehwi nodded enthusiastically. he was like an energetic ball of fluff.
woojin eyed me and gave a small, nonchalant nod. he quietly agreed, "yeah, you should uh.. join us.."
"sure, i guess," i shrugged.
i waved my hand slightly at daehwi and jaehwan as we parted ways.
woojin continued to guide me around the school and there were like six seperate buildings. one building for the library, one for a theatre, one for the practice rooms with studios, one for the cafeteria, one main building, and one for the gym.
this place was huge.
we headed towards the stairs that lead to the rooftop and stopped.
beside the staircase were two doors. one door had a label with 'janitor's room' on it. the other door had nothing written on it, but it had a lock on it.
"make sure you don't ever open this door," woojin had a grim look on his face.
"why?" i asked out of curiosity.
"i don't really know, but there's a lot of rumors and stories about this door and it's not very pleasant."
"ahh, i see," my eyes kept wandering off to the locked door. i guess it's true when people say that you're more curious to things that you aren't allowed to do.
"i mean if you're really curious about the stories, you can ask jisung or jaehwan. they know all the gossip and rumors in this school."
it was quite interesting to hear woojin talk a lot.
earlier, he seemed like a boy of few words with his chic appearance, but now he was talking a bit more. his voice was very pleasant to listen to. it was a quiet voice, but it was low and raspy.
i liked it.
"your voice is quite nice to listen to."
"huh?"
the boy was taken aback and so was i. it took me a few seconds to realize that i had said my thoughts out loud.
"umm.. uh.. thanks.. i guess..?" woojin responded awkwardly. cheeks slightly blushing and dusted with pink, he covered his red ears with his hands while muttering something to himself.
what did he mumble to himself? it made me really curious, but i decided to not ask him about it.
"park woojin, why is your face so red like a tomato?" i teased him, "are you that happy from my compliment?"
"hmm..? then why is your face red, shin seolhee?" he naturally avoided my question and retorted it back to me.
he was right.
earlier, i was unaware of it, but now i could feel the heat from my cheeks. i must've been embarrassed from blurting out my thoughts.
"i'm not quite sure why.. it must be because of the weather.. whew i think i'm sweating," i began to fan myself.
"i'm pretty sure that it's october and it's pretty chilly right now," he raised an eyebrow.
clearing my throat, i smoothly changed the topic. "speaking of chilly weather, are we allowed to go to the rooftop right now? i want to check it out," i pointed towards the staircase beside us.
"yeah sure. why not." woojin headed towards the staircase and motioned me to follow him.
after climbing up the stairs, woojin opened the door and ushered me to enter first.
the crisp, cool wind kissed my skin as i entered the rooftop. i could smell the crisp autumn scent of october from above more clearly. the city of seoul can be seen from here which would've been more breathtaking if it was night time.
turning my head, i noticed that woojin was still by the door and leaning against it.
"well, that's the end of our tour," woojin placed one of his hands inside the pocket of his pants.
the bell rang and i headed down the stairs with woojin.
"where was the cafeteria again?" i tapped my chin, peeking over at woojin.
"its at a seperate building—" he let out a sigh, "you know what, i'll just lead you there since we're eating lunch together..."
together, we headed towards the cafeteria.

A/N: there's going to be a few filler chapters to introduce all the characters and the setting, but i promise that we'll get to the main plot soon
