Autumn POV
They're not even close to being ready. I don't know why I thought they would be. Zoe cant even control her powers and when she gets stressed she blows. That was obvious at the goblins den.
She was somewhat amplified by the crystal in the treasure room. When Mara yelled Fight she just shut down and before we could help her she "blew up". I don't even know what its called. I have to zone back into reality and stop my mind wandering. Mara is carrying Zoe in a fireman's carry across her shoulder.
We run across the forest towards our boat and hop in. We have to run away. And fast.
"Mara put her under deck" There is a little bunker under the deck of the boat.
"Kay"
"We have to go fast we basically sent up a screaming beacon to Adrian about where we are. He could be coming already and only God knows were unprapared."
"Yea being some of the only people with magic does put a target on our backs."
Oh great another reminder that we are hopelessly un shielded. Ever science the law that banned magic was put into effect people like Adrian and us were put into hiding. The humans were scared and before the spread of magic went beyond the north region borders and the lonely islands they banded. They captured and massacred them out of fear but could not penetrate the northern border and didn't care about the small amount of people in the islands. They were scared anyway and breed the magic out of their veins.
"Do you know what happened to her, Zoë. i mean u seem to know her better." I say as we boat away as fast as possible with Mara directing the boat.
"I don't know. She said she had an outburst before and with the damage she did today and that was controlled with the crystal a bit i can't believe how much damage she must have done."
"Yea she has to control it soon. Do you have control?"
"Idk if you would call it control. Ive never used it. The people on the island shunned anyone who carried the trait of magic. But my grandmother...She remembered when she was a little girl and magic was everywhere. Helping with crops and having fun."
"in the northern lands my father, Adrian had the most power but all the other people wanted to be with him he had a aura around him that others wanted. Zoë lived in a small village in the northern lands that had no magic but she did. I don't know much other than that."
"Im going to see if Zoë is doing any better so she can help us." Mara said
