Nepeta tapped her claws on the black desk. It was sure quiet in here. Not that she was bored with the lab. It was just she was used to the wide open, broad forest, and her cave-hive. Not the lab with its metal items, and no wilderness to explore. It was boring, without Karkitty here.
Nepeta waved to passerby trolls sleepily, Tavros, Sollux, Feferi, Terezi, she counted them all up. But there was still no Karkitty.
It was dark and silent in the lab. 4 AM. Sollux was hunched over his computer as he always was, the white light of the screen lighting up his face in the blackness. Nepeta had almost dropped in her chair in a snoozing pile, but she heard footsteps. She just had to know who it was before she fell asleep. Her eyes were blurry and she was too tired to make out who it was completely, but she must certainly saw the nubby horns and Cancer sighn. Just then, it seemed as if she was floating away into the silence of dreamland, asleep in a hunched over heap in the swivel chair.
