"Jirou-senpai! Ohayo!" a five year old brunette wearing a cute blue, frilly butterfly onesie greeted a ravenette boy who's just a year older than her.

"Ohayo, Miri-chan. It's still too early in the morning yet you're already loud." the raven haired boy, who's named Jirou, deadpan.
The adorable little girl, who goes by the name Miri, pouted.

"It's still too early in the morning yet you're already in your stuck-up mode." she retorted. Jirou stares at her incredulously.

"Where did you learn that word?" he asked. Miri looks up as if looking for the answers above the clouds.

"Well, I heard your onee-chan call you that every time you are doing this kind of face." Miri said and imitated Jirou's blank face.

Jirou almost face palmed but stop himself. 'She doesn't even understand that word.' he thought.

"Anyway, why aren't you wearing a jacket? It's still cold." Jirou asked as he clutch the fabric of his jacket tightly, shielding himself from the fresh, yet cold early morning breeze. They're at their favorite tree that's just above a hill, overlooking their village. Their houses are just below it so it's fine to go there even in the early morning.

"Oh. I forgot to bring mine." she sheepishly smiles at him. He stares at her for a moment and sighs as he averts his gaze. His cheeks feeling warm despite the cold wind fanning his face.

"You're really silly, Miri-chan." he says. Miri let out a surprise squeak when he suddenly pulls her to sit beside him under the tree. He takes off his jacket and drapes it's other side to her shoulder as the other is on his.

"Good thing I brought otou-san's jacket with me so it's bigger." he mumbles.

Miri couldn't help but blush when she realizes how close they are. As young as she is, she already has a 'secret' crush to her childhood friend.

The wind blows, making Miri close her eyes. She didn't notice her long, shiny hair dancing along with the wind. Jirou stares at her with fascination. She really looks good with her long brown hair. He wish she'd never cut them short.

"Why are you suddenly quiet?" he asked after a long silence. Miri blushes even more and stutter.

"N-Nothing, J-Jirou-senpai!" she said. Jirou sighs.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me senpai?"

Miri looks at him with her big dark eyes. Jirou couldn't help but stare back at her with his own brown ones.

"But you're older than me, senpai." she reasoned.

"It's just a year. Besides, if that's the case then shouldn't you call me 'onii-san?'" he asked with a raise of brow.
Miri avoids his gaze and looks down.

"I have to prepare you know." she said.

"Jirou-kun will advance to a higher grade than me because he's very bright. Kaa-san said that if someone is on higher grade than me, I have to call him senpai." she said.
Jirou notices her almost getting teary.

"Oy. Why are you crying?" he asked. She sniffs.

"B-Because ...Jirou-kun w-will not be my childhood friend anymore." she says, sniffling. Jirou looks at her, surprised.

"What are you saying? Of course I'll still be your childhood friend." he said. Miri once again looks up again. Jirou stiffens uncomfortably, seeing her puffy, pinkish cheeks and red rimmed eyes. Her cute lips are turned down to a cute pout.

"H-Honto?" she asked, hopeful. Jirou smiles at her and nods.

"Hai. Miri-chan will always be my childhood friend. Miri-chan will always be my Miri-chan, and I will always be your Jirou. Nothing will change." he says.
