The man was terrified of him, it was plain to see.

But Dark had to make sure that the other didn't know that he was just as frightened.

"W-who are you?" The man stammered. He stood in the midst of a circle of light, which illuminated his features. He had dark brown hair in a cleanly cut style, and glasses perched upon the bridge of his nose. His eyebrows creased above his chocolate brown eyes, betraying his anxiety. "And why do you look like me?"

Dark blinked. What am I supposed to say to that? He narrowed his eyes, then replied in a slow, deep voice. "My name is Dark. And you are?"

"M-Mark," the man gulped.

Dark couldn't help but snort at the ironic rhyme. "Well, Mark, would you mind telling me where we are?"

Mark slid his eyes around. "I was actually going to ask you that," he answered, laughing nervously.

Dark waved his hand. "No matter." Then he noticed Mark giving him a strange look. "What?" he asked testilily.

Mark started. "Sorry, it's just that you look exactly like me!"

"What does it matter?" Dark growled. He was beginning to become annoyed with the man's way of speaking. It grated on his nerves, making him want to cover his ears as the other spoke again in a pondering voice.

"Well... I do remember going to sleep- wait!" Mark exclaimed and clapped his hands together, a grin appearing on his face. "That must be it; I'm asleep! Oh, this makes so much more sense now."

Dark was displeased to see the fear ebb away from the man's eyes. He didn't want to be cast away as a simple nightmare. He knew that he was more than that. Taking a few steps forward, he spoke forcefully, his anger seeping into every word. "I am no dream, I can assure you. I am very, very, real."

Mark's goofy smile evaporated immediately. Dark could see his red eyes glowing in the reflection of the other's glasses. Wait... have they always been that color? I could've sworn they were black before...

"What are you?" The man's voice deathly silently, shaking with tension. "Are... are you a demon?"

"I'm not a demon." Dark couldn't stop himself from replying. "I am your demon."

No sooner had the words left his mouth then Dark felt cold metal slithering around his wrists. He glanced down and froze as he saw a mass of translucent chains slowly binding his limbs together.

It happened in a blink of an eye; the restraints gained speed and flew around him, trapping Dark completely. They pulled and tugged forcefully on his struggling form, dragging him into the darkness away from Mark. Dark caught a glimpse of Mark's shocked face before he was lost to sight.

Don't look so surprised, Dark thought, hatred kindling inside of him. I know you're doing this. And I will get out!
