A/N: The song above is by SharaX, called Lockdown. I know it's supposed to be FNaF, but I feel like it fits perfectly with the story. Enjoy!
Dark's head spun with weariness. Where... Where am I...
It was definitely someplace he had never been before. He seemed to be floating in blackness, but he could feel a cold surface beneath him. Well, wherever I am now, he thought, it can't be worse than Raspy Hill. He hung his head, shame sweeping over him. I failed...
Determination flashed in his mind. Next time.
Then doubt. Will I be strong enough?
Suddenly, Dark started. A faint voice had reached his ears, singing softly to a haunting tune.
I had a dream where something came to life...
Mechanical parts cold, trapped inside this unfortunate soul.
Dark stood up, his skull pounding. Those chains really did a number on me. He staggered blindly after the music. Maybe they could help...?
But he soon stopped after he heard the next words.
I took the fall that no one else would take
Corridors are locked, the doors are shut
Sometimes I'd see your face...
If the corridors are locked and the doors are shut, Dark mused, slumping back down to the ground, then why would they help me?
I thought them strangers, bent to play pretend
Fun's only a game
Til someone breaks the rules and lets them in
Dark perked up. What are they trying to say? It seemed like they were telling a story of something important. Something that maybe only Dark might understand.
And when the lights go out,
This is the end
Now we're in this blackout,
And when the lights go-
The sound dissolved into melody and whispers. Dark struggled to his feet again. I should find them. But no matter where he went, no matter how far he followed the sound, he never found anything. Just his new empty world, devoid of any form of light. So he sat, and listened, and thought.
I had a dream where something came to life...
Mechanical parts cold, trapped inside this unfortunate soul.
I took the fall that no one else would take
Corridors are locked, the doors are shut
Sometimes I'd see your face...
Dark mulled over the first part of the repetitive song. It seems to me that here they're talking about the past... he thought. Something, or rather someone, happened to them, and then they sealed themselves away from the other?
However, the rest of the song was still a mystery.
I thought them strangers, bent to play pretend
Fun's only a game
Til someone breaks the rules and lets them in
And when the lights go out,
This is the end
Now we're in this blackout,
And when the lights go-
It sounded to Dark as if the singer was cut off at the end of every performance. If only they could finish the song!
Then he had an idea. If the first verse is about the past... then perhaps this part is about the present or the future. He stopped wandering and sat down again. But what could it mean...
Closing his eyes, Dark lay down, crossing his arms over his chest. I can figure it out later, he told himself. I need to rest now so I can gain strength. The now familiar rage bubbled up again. I have to get free!
As Dark drifted off to a fitful sleep, he never noticed the song die away from his new realm. He never remembered it either. It had disappeared from his world, his mind... his memory.
He had no use for it; why shouldn't he forget?
