"Don't forget where you belong. Whoa, if you ever feel alone, whoa, you are never on your own."

Chapter 18

“Mmph,” Harry moaned softly. I grinned and pushed him back against the sofa, crouching gently down on top of him. I crashed my lips to his, taking command of the entire situation. His hands traveled over my hips, and I gently raked my fingers over and over again through his soft locks. A throaty moan escaped my own throat, and I leaned more of my weight onto him.

“Oh baby,” he groaned. I stopped immediately, gasping.

Baby. Avery!

I immediately sat up, still straddling his torso. He looked up at me warily, appraising my excited expression. How could I have forgotten?

“What’s wrong?” he asked me gently. I grinned.

“Nothing,” I cooed softly. I climbed off of him and sank to my knees next to him. He looked down his nose at me with raised eyebrows, and I grinned wider.

“So what is it?”

“Well… I was thinking.”

“Why do I have the feeling that I’m going to get sucked into something bad…” he moaned to himself. I giggled.

“It’s nothing overly bad. I just have a tiny favor to ask you.”

Harry sat up, and I perched myself on his knee. He wrapped his arms automatically around my waist, and I prepared myself for the speech I’d have to make. I was almost positive that Harry would agree, but would be he really be okay with my meddling?

“Harry, you know that I love my sister,” I began slowly. He nodded.

“Of course,” he agreed. I took a deep, steeling breath.

“Avery told me the other night that she was willing to allow Austin back in her life.”

Harry paused, eyes widening. He appeared blown away.

“Seriously? Whoa.”

“I know,” I said emphatically. “The only thing is, she’s not going to search him out.”

“So how’s he supposed to know he’s welcome?” Harry asked, confused. I grinned mischievously.

“I love my sister, Harry. More than anything, really. But I want what’s best for her. And letting Austin come back to her is definitely what’s best for her. However, she made me promise that I wouldn’t go and bring him to her.”

Harry looked confused, again, his brow furrowing. I gently kissed it and grinned widely at him for the millionth time. I was giddy with excitement and expectancy. Something good was going to come from this. I just knew it.

“So what exactly are you planning to do?”

“That’s where you come in,” I smiled. He hesitated for half a second before groaning loudly.

“Okay, let me have it. What is it that you want me to do?” It was hardly a question, and even though he was wary of my intentions, he was willing to listen. Oh, sweet Harry.

“Well,” I said slowly, rubbing my palms together. “I want you to go and talk to Austin.”

“And say what exactly?” he laughed, throwing his hands up.

“I don’t know, but you know how important this is.”

“I understand that, baby. But I’m not Jesus.”

“But you’re a guy, and on Austin’s level that’s close enough.”

He blinked at me for a second, and I put my best pleading look on. I gently massaged his shoulders to persuade him, staring deeply into his eyes. We seemed to be in a staring contest, a clash of wills. Though his was significantly molded in my direction. After a moment, he slowly closed his eyes and groaned loudly, massaging his neck and fisting his curls.

“Baby… I don’t know what exactly you want me to do, but I will definitely try to bring him to his senses.”

I heaved a sigh of relief.

“Thank you so much,” I said quickly. I pressed our foreheads together briefly, and then I gently touched my lips to his. “You have no idea how much I appreciate you, babe.”

He leaned back, smirking.

“Did you just call me babe?” he asked with a laugh. I flushed, shrugging.

“Eh, it’s growing on me.”

Harry chuckled lightly, and then, quick as a jungle cat, scooped me off his lap and threw me down on the sofa. He tickled me for a second while I laughed madly underneath him. He stopped, leaving me gasping for breath, planted a quick kiss on my forehead, and hopped up. He jogged over to the table, grabbed his keys, and headed for the door, dancing merrily. I sat up slowly.

“Babe? Where are you going?”

“To get Austin. I’ll be back.”

And with a wink, he walked swiftly out the door, shutting it tightly behind him.

“Lexi! Are you seriously sleeping right now?” Avery demanded incredulously. I sat up slowly from the sofa and rubbed my eyes. The sun was just beginning to set outside, and I wondered how long I’d been asleep.

“What?” I asked groggily. The other boys were wandering around. They all appeared to have just gotten back. But where was Harry?

“We’re about to start a movie, actually. Liam’s making popcorn.”

I nodded and settled into the corner of the sofa, tucking my feet under me. I yawned hugely and wrapped myself in a blanket. The other three boys came and sat on the sofa around me, and Avery popped a DVD into the player. She was just starting it as Liam came in with a few huge bowls of popcorn. He passed them around and took a seat next to me. Avery was just about to sit when the doorbell rang.

We all glanced curiously in the direction of the front door. Liam sighed, moving to get up, but Avery waved him down.

“I got it. It’s probably just Harry, anyway. I bet he forgot his key again.”

We all chuckled as she walked off towards the front door. Half a second later, the back door popped quietly open, revealing a breathless, victorious Harry. We all glanced at him, puzzled.

“What’s going on?” I asked him quietly. Something told me to whisper. Harry shook his head, grinning widely at me. A moment later, the front door opened. Avery gasped.

“Austin?”
