I was waiting in the almost empty waiting room. I was auditioning for The X Factor. Looking over at the clock I caught a glimps at my best friend Ava sleeping peacefully. Oh how rude of me. My name is Harper Williams and I am 16 years old. I have lived in a foster home since I was 4 years old so for about 12 years. Ava is about 6 years old and she is my best friend/ sister. The lady that takes care of us is named Cady. She is amazing. She is very supportive of my dreams of becoming something close to famous.
Back to the story. While I was daydreaming a hand on my shoulder made me jump. It was Dermont, the host of the X factor.
"I didn't mean to scare you love." He said with a smile.
Looking around the room, I notice that it is completely deserted. Why do I have to be the last act today? Dermont lead me to the door that the judges where sitting behind. He wished me luck and my hands started to shake.
I enter the room and I am greeted with warm smiles from the judges. We exchange hello's and get down to the before performing interview.
"What's your name and where are you from?" Louis asked.
"My name is Harper Williams and I am from Lambeth, London."
"Really? I'm from Lambeth." Simon said.
"What are you going to be singing for us today?" Louis asked.
"I am going to be singing 'Believe' by Cher and I will be playing it on the keyboard" (Or piano I call it a keyboard)
"Love that song. Best of luck and off you go."
I sang a more slow and soft version. My hands are shaking as I pressed the keys. As I was singing Nicole stared to get tears in her eyes and Louis looked in his pocket for a tissue. While he was doing that Mrs.O justed stared at me as I just looked at the floor in front of them and Simon stared off into space.
When I pushed the last key and sang the last note the judges and the crew behind the cameras all cheered. I tried to hold back my tears that formed in my eyes.
"I didn't like it... I loved. That was amazing. I-I-I'm speechless. You have a beautiful voice. You have a great vocal range. Some adults that are auditioning for this show that are 2 times your age, but you still sing better. I know that made no sense because that's how amzing you are that you made me lose my train of thought. I don't know where I'm going with this so I go to Nicole on a yes or a no."
"It's a yes. Obviously. I mean look at me I'm crying that's how beautiful your voice is."
Mrs.O and Louis said yes, but Simon said absobloodlutly. What ever that meant but he said yes.
When I started to exit the room Nicloe asked if I could sing the rest of the song since I just sang the short version. I did so and got the same response and then I was off.
