My eyes opened but soon squinted at the rays of light that obnoxiously shone in through the window. Although I didn't really want to be awake yet, I still pulled myself out of my bed into my shower. I was actually going to talk to this dancer I'd been watching every day for almost a week now.
It was an understatement to say that I was nervous. The anxiety was eating me up. What am I even going to say? 'Oh hey, I've been watching you dance for the past 5 days and I think you're really talented and attractive.'
Actually maybe that wasn't too bad of an idea.
I haven't sincerely met anyone in awhile. Yeah I talk to people before I kill them, and I make small talk with customers when I ring up their items, never before have I ever met anyone with the intention of maybe becoming romantically involved. My past girlfriends were friends before I even thought about dating them so, it's not like I met them with that kind of intention. I shouldn't even be meeting him in the first place but, I realized I had to. I needed to.
I finished my shower and stepped out. I threw on basically the same thing I wore everyday but, I put on a few necklaces and a ball cap to spice things up a bit. I looked in the mirror to make sure I looked decent. I tried to smile. I look frightening and unapproachable. Maybe a good look for any other day but, not today. I frowned and walked out, grabbing my phone and my wallet before I went out my front door.
Once I arrived at my usual spot, the dancer wasn't there. It was 3:00, he should be here by now. I looked around and ran into the business right behind the place he dances. I saw the guy behind the counter and went up to ask him where the dancer was.
"Uh, do you know where, uh, the dancer is that's usually out here?" For some reason I couldn't get the sentence out easily. The man is probably so confused as to why I'm asking here he is.
"Hoseok-ah should be here soon. Sometimes he runs late." The man explained.
Hoseok. What a pretty name, I think it fit him really well. My mouth unintentionally stretched into a wide grin as I matched his face with the name.
"Oh, alright then. Thank you." I bowed.
"Are you a friend of his?"
Oh no.
"Um, yeah of course!" I lied. I rushed out of the store as fast as I could, trying to escape the situation quickly. I then felt my body collide with someone else's, both of us falling to the ground, along with the strangers coffee.
Without giving the person a second glance, I grabbed their hand and helped them up. I felt awful. "Oh my, I am so sorry, I was in a hurry and I didn't know you were there and I'm sorry about your coffee-"
"It's okay, it's okay! Thanks for helping me up though." The stranger said. I was staring at the ground in complete embarrassment. "Hey, you seem familiar. You watch me dance, don't you?"
My head jerked up and I swear my heart stopped. It was him. The dancer. Hoseok.
"Uh, yeah I do. You're really talented." I could already feel my cheeks heating up. "Listen, I'm sorry about your coffee. Can I make up for it by buying you a drink tonight?"
Hoseok smiled down at me, "Sure! That's very nice of you. By the way, I just wanted to say thank you for tipping. Not very many people do and, I'm thankful for the small amounts I do get." His eyes squinted as the sun shone brightly down on us and he scratched the back of his neck.
"Yeah, no problem. You deserve it. You're out here dancing nonstop in the heat. I wish I could give you more than my extra change." I looked up at him. The way the sun made his creamy skin glow and lit up his dark brown eyes, making them a golden honey color which was completely mesmerizing. Mentally, I was in awe, physically, I was a mess.
"Well let buying me a drink be your tip for today." He winked at me, causing even more butterflies to erupt in my stomach. "How about we meet back here at five after my session and we can go to the pub down the road?"
"Sure. See you then." I gave a quick look of friendliness and began to walk off.
"Wait!"
I turned around.
"I didn't ask you. What's your name?"
"Min Yoongi. Yours?" I already knew the answer but, I wanted to hear him say it.
"Jung Hoseok."
