Mark's pov
I slouched at my desk as I read over random cases. Nothing major had happened besides a house burning down after someone left their socks on a heater last week and I was bored out of my mind."You okay there bro?" Felix asked, almost prancing into my office with muffins in his hands.
"I guess. Just... thinking," I mumbled. His smile dropped slightly at my tone but didn't completely fade.
"What ya thinkin 'bout?" He asked, handing me a muffin.
"Stuff," I said half heartedly. He rolled his eyes and threw a pen at me.
"Specifically you goof. What's got my bro down?" He asked with care. Felix is like a brother to me. We'd been friends before joining the police force and were lucky enough to get assigned together.
"I don't know really. I just feel... down," I said with a sigh. Felix took a hite of his muffin as he thought.
"Maybe you're missin someone?" He said with a slight smirk. It took me a second to realise who he was talking about.
"Jack? Well yeah I miss him being around but he's safer where people can watch over him better than I can," I said, a tinge of sorrow in my voice.
"Yeah but, maybe you miss more than just his presence," Felix tried to tell me but I didn't understand what he was trying to say, my face falling blank. He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Never mind. The detectives are here by the way and are probably gonna come barging in here to tell you something they found out," Felix said.
"What makes you think that?" I asked as I raised my brow.
"Because I saw the look on their faces when they went barging into Evan's office. They were on a mission those two," He said knowingly. I nodded just as my door swung open and Delirious stood in the doorway singing something.
"Can you shut up! You've been singing that song ever since we found that new evidence. Terribly at that!" Cartoonz shouted over his friend.
"Hey! You shut up about my singing! It's beautiful," Delirious defended.
"Clearly beauty is different to other people," I said, earning a pouty glare from Delirious. "What is it you found?"
"Well, we'll just get to the chase or Delirious here is gonna start singing again but we found evidence that points to Ken not being the one who tortured Jack but covered it up for someone else. A close friend maybe but he never did anything to Jack. Never touched him even," Cartoonz said.
"What? How did you figure that out?" I asked in disbelief.
"Well besides him passing out and throwing up when he got the slightest pin prick, we were able to get some information out of him and piece it together with evidence we found at the crime scene," Cartoonz explained.
"Do you know anything about the person?" Felix asked from his little corner.
"Not yet but apparently Jack had a flashback after seeing something outside his window at night the other day and a few people were around. Not much can be seen of all of them but one had brownish hair and a dark jacket. Another was tall, slim, green shirt and dark hair. There was also two women who appeared to be holding hands. One had a black pony tail and the other had brunette hair with purple bangs," Delirious said, without stuttering like he usually did for once.
"So we have four suspects. Do we know the name of any of them?" I asked.
"Only the girls but we crossed them off the list as Jack told us his captive was a male. All we got out of him though," Cartoonz said, a sad tune making its way into his voice.
"How is Jack going?" Felix asked the question i was too afraid to ask. They were silent for a moment and i assumed the worst.
"He's not good really. Barely eats. Only one person can talk to him and that's another patient which can lead to some trouble within the hospital. The only time he drinks in when he takes his medication but thats it really. He's looking deathly pale and if he doesn't eat he might jot make it through another flashback," Cartoonz said with worry.
"Shit! I'm going down there. Felix, tell Vanoss I'll be back in an hour or so," I said. He nodded and threw me my keys as I walked out the door, rushing outside. I climbed into my car and sped down the road but staying at the speed limit as to not cause an accident. I remember how that turned out last time someone was speeding down this road.
"Officer Fischbach? What are you doing back here? Come to check up on Sean?" The receptionist asked politely, her eyes roaming over my body. I felt a wave of discomfort wash over me as I nodded and asked for his room. I was shocked to see he was still in the same room as last time and walked straight there.
I passed Ohm, a patient who usually wore grey sweaters and a grey mask, as i walked down the halls and saw the smile tug at his mouth as I waved. He waved back at I quickly reached Jack's room, knocking loudly. The door opened and Phil gave me a surprised look.
"Mark? Didn't expect seeing you here. Weren't you meant to be working right now?" He asked with concern.
"I took a quick leave to check up on Jack. I heard he wasn't doing too well," I said as calmly as I could but fear and anxiety was eating its way inside me. (That sounded wrong)
"You came just in time. His flashbacks are getting worse and I don't know how much longer he can hold out. Can you try to talk to him and get him to eat and sleep or something?" Phil asked in distress. I nodded and he let me enter the ghostly looking room.
