Age 5
Mommy finally got a new set of crayons for me to use. I've been begging her for a new set ever since my old one broke. She even invited Mia and her mommy too so that we could share it and draw together.
We became friends because of our mothers. The two were friends ever since high school and are still very close now. Since our moms were close friends, the two of us would be together all the time. Mia was my best friend and we would always have play dates together.
Once Mia entered my room, she had her teddy bear clasped tightly between her fingers. She ran up to me and asked "Why are there boxes next door? I thought Mr. Grumpy Gram lived there?"
When I heard her say Mr. Grumpy Gram, I laughed and said
"Mommy said he moved out a few days ago because he wanted to live near his family in California. I guess the new neighbors who are friends with daddy are moving in. He said he told them about this house."
She had a confused face at first, but after she processed it she said, "Oh..I get it now."
We sat down to draw and drew pictures until we heard a knock on my door. Mommy came in with cookies and said "Hey kids! Why don't you girls hand this to the new neighbors, if you want."
We both smiled at her and picked up the plates and went downstairs.
As we were heading to the next door neighbors house, we bumped into a boy who looked to be our age.
"Hi, I'm Polly and this is my best friend Mia. We have cookies for you and your family. Also, I live next door. " I said with a smile on my face, pointing at the white colored house.
"Hey, I'm Kevin. Thank you so much! Let's put it inside the kitchen."
The three of us walked to his door and patiently waited until his mommy opened the door. Once she did, she greeted us with a warm smile and ushered us in. When walked inside, Kevin invited us to sit on the chairs while we talked.
"I'm 6 how about you?" Kevin asked, looking at us with curious brown eyes.
"We're 5," said Mia as I messily stuffed a cookie in my mouth. Kevin laughed at my face that had crumbs all over it until Mia brushed it off. From then on, we just started to get to know each other. Eventually, Mia and I became best friends with Kevin.

Kevin just got home from soccer practice, but he wasn't alone. He was with a short boy around his age with unruly brown hair. Kevin waved hello and told me to head over there.
As I ran over there, I saw the brown haired boy smiling at me as he said, "I'm Joey, it's nice to meet you."
He extended his hand out for me as I replied back, "I'm Mia nice to meet you too Joey"
Joey and Kevin then went inside and told me to follow along. They sat down in the living room and started playing video games. I just stood there and watched as they played the game, slowly getting impatient as they ignored me.
"Can I play?" I asked with a hint of impatience in my voice.
"No! Girls can't play video games. You guys might dirty our controllers with your cooties."
"Excuse me! I'm pretty good at video games and I don't have cooties!" I said, narrowing my eyes at the two boys, "Only boys have cooties!"
"Hey, we don't have cooties! You know what? let's make a deal, if you can beat us in this video game then we treat you for ice cream. If we win.."
"You get ice cream too. Deal?"
"Deal"
After a few minutes of playing the video game we finally finished and, "I WIN!". I did a happy dance in front of them. "You guys owe me Ice cream" I said with a huge grin on my face.
The three of us went out to the park with Kevin's mom to buy me ice cream. But they still ended up getting too, sadly. We all sat down on the park bench and peacefully finishes our ice cream.
