Weeks pass. Slowly, you become accustomed to life in the Castle. You become good friends with the Paladins, mostly Hunk, Pidge and Keith. You treat Lance civilly, unable to fully blame him for your loss of limbs. However, he still gets profusely on your nerves, and you try to avoid him as much as possible to get away from that continuing annoyance called "his talking."

Every day, the Paladins rotate to take care of you. One day you might be with Keith, watching him train, listening to him tell you stories. Another day you might be cooking with Hunk or talking nerd with Pidge. Some days you're wheeled around the castle by Allura as she does her princesse-duties.

You go a few times with Shiro, who helps you keep your strength up in your remaining limbs by doing excercises, and you even go with Coran, who tells you horrible uncle jokes the entire day.

At night, Allura or Pidge will help you wash up, and help you into bed. You learn how to eat and write with your left hand and how to get dressed by yourself.

It's a good routine, one you become familiar with quickly.

About a month and a half after you arrive at the castle, you're sitting in your room with Keith. He tells you a joke that makes you laugh heartily, clutching your stomach.

After a moment he says, "Tell me about yourself."

You look at him funny. "I already did when I arrived," You laugh a little.

Keith shrugs. "So? Tell me about your life as a child. Tell me about your family, your friends."

"My-friends." You instantly think of Will, his soft smile and shining eyes coming to mind. "I-"

"It's okay if you don't want to." Keith says quickly. "I don't want you to feel uncomfortable. I just wanted to know a little more about you is all."

You shake your head. "No, I- it's fine. My childhood was fairly simple. I had my parents, and my younger sister, Helna." You smile sadly, thinking about your sweet sister. "We didn't really know many people; we just had a few close family friends. One of them was the family of my best friend, Will."

Keith notices the tender way you say his name. "You loved him, didn't you?"

You glance away. "I did. We were so close. He could tell if something was bothering me just by the look in my eyes. He always knew what I was thinking, even without me saying it. We were like two peas in a pod. And then," You pause. "And then one day, that all changed. I stopped seeing him as a brother and more as the man he was."

"Did he feel the same?" Keith asks quietly.

"Yeah, he did actually," You smile a little. It fades at your next words. "But he didn't tell me until right before he died in my arms. He was killed by the Galra. He tried to protect me and got hurt instead."

"I'm so sorry," Keith murmurs gently.

"I lost my entire family to the Galra. I hate them. They killed all of my people, wiped out my entire planet." You growl.

Keith says nothing. Your fist is clenched, your sheets clutched in it. Keith's hands gently pry yours from the bed. His fingers entwine with yours and squeeze lightly.

"You have no one left? You're the only one who survived?"

You nod slowly. "As far as I know, yes,"

Keith's hand grips your's tighter. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I'm tired of people being sorry for me. I may be two limbed and an orphan, but I don't need pity." Your eyes meet his.
