My Little Escape.

The sides of non consent.

A grunt and a groan,
And then a scream,
But not one full of ecstasy and pleasure,
But instead a scream full of fear and horror as something that she's valued for so long is taken away in a blink of an eye.

Consent.

Statistically I don't give a damn,
Rape is rape.
And why should I care how often it happens or who it happens to when the bottom line is that I give a damn that it exists.

There will be a man somewhere, yesterday today or tomorrow,
Who will be begging for it to stop as some soulless monster takes away something that this man has worked his entire life to keep because it means the whole damn world to him and anyone else.

Consent.

And when I get angry about this subject it isn't because I care about any side specifically,
But instead I care about every side except the opposite side.

Because why should I care about a side that takes away a value that people should have?
Why should I care about a side that destroys lives and shatters people's hearts?

To deal with this problem we don't need statistics and numbers. We just need people to realise rape is a thing.
It isn't about there being a culture about it,
Or if cults are set up for it.
I don't give a damn.

What I do give a damn about is that our children and our children's children will be taught respect. To deal with a problem you attack the roots, not the decaying and mangled petals that stem from the support of a system. Rape stems from allowance, and allowance starts young.

I'm not calling the next generation rapists,
But when a boy hits a girl and a girl hits a boy then they apologise like they should before it embeds.
Otherwise there will be a grunt and a groan,
And then a scream.
And a cycle going on forevermore.
