It was another September yet again, the Canterlot High getting more and more crowded by each passing minute. Students were running around looking for their classrooms, although still having 20 minutes left before the beginning of their lessons.
Some students were talking with the receptionist at the front table to get the school campus maps, because they lived far away and were staying at the school housing for the whole school-year, or to get their new school uniforms that they somehow hadn't received yet. The school uniforms were mandatory so these students were either new at the school or simply their last uniform was getting just a little bit too small. However, when the school bell finally rang everyone seemed to have surprisingly found their way to the correct classrooms with only one girl left dashing through the long corridor.
***
Twilight Sparkle was sitting at a desk in the first row, right in front of the teacher, she was listening to her teacher talk about trigonometry as if Twilight hadn't already learnt all about it by herself a year ago. Nonetheless, she was still eager to raise her hand if the teacher was to ask any questions.
Suddenly, after 5 minutes into the maths lesson, the door suddenly burst open with a small girl stepping/running into the classroom. She panted for a few moments before saying three words between her breaths:
"New.. School... Traffic".
"Right and you are Miss Dash, I assume!" the teacher stated rather than asked with a cold tone.
"Correct," said Dash.
Twilight new she wouldn't like the girl just by looking at her.
She was short and had messy rainbow coloured hair. Although the hair was definitely a bold choice, it didn't particularly upset Twilight, who herself had quite unnatural purple hair with pink and lilac highlights. The girl – Dash – wasn't wearing any make-up (not that Twilight herself wore much either) and her face looked arrogant, like she was perhaps trying to make up for her absence in height.
Her uniform looked sloppy-ish, with wrinkles here and there and she wasn't even wearing the school tie. Her skirt was way to high for Twilights liking, making it look like she wanted to 'accidentally' flash everyone. Her looks screamed 'rebel' and being late already on the first day of school only helped to create a bad image of her for Twilight.
"Well, miss Dash, would you please be kind enough to sit down now or would you like to be carried to your seat?" the teacher said again coldly and Twilight was surprised to see that Dash didn't even blush at that. In fact she didn't seem even a little taken aback, if anything her face got even more arrogant. Twilight half expected the girl to reply "I wouldn't mind" but instead The rainbow-haired girl seemed to not want to cause any further problems on her first day and quietly obeyed. She sat down onto the only empty seat, which was consequently next to Twilight's (most people had preferred the desks in the far back) and turned to look at Twilight. Just when Twilight started to think about what she could possibly want, the girl leaned over and whispered:
"Hmm, psst, hey, do you know what we're learning?"
Twilight noticed that she had big bright magenta eyes.
"Trigonometry" She whispered back, earning a look from the teacher who had seen them whispering.
Twilight automatically turned back to the blackboard and blushed a bit. It wasn't good to get in the teacher's bad list already on their first day of the year, not that she planned to do it later either.
She peeked a little at the girl next to her who had also turned her gaze to the teacher now. "Good for her" Twilight thought. Twilight also noticed that Dash was really skinny, not like anorectic-skinny but more like athletic-skinny, another thing Twilight couldn't help to notice was that Dash appeared to not have big 'womanly curves', not that Twilight was looking for them, she just noticed that the girl looked more boyish built.
Twilight then looked at the teacher again following Dash's lead.***
What Twilight hadn't known was that Dash wasn't thinking about the 'teach' or the 'trigo-thing' at all. Her mind was still at home where she had had her comfy bed all to herself and how now she would have to sleep here at the high-school for at least a week. She groaned in her mind. She hated school and to make the matters worse the first lesson was already maths which she hated the most and furthermore she had to sit in the first row with that nerd next to her.
The nerd had dark blue hair with two purple or whatever highlights and bangs. Her uniform was embarrassingly clean without a single wrinkle and her skirt was so long it reached her knees. Her fuc-, I guess I can't use that word in school anymore,-king knees. Dash didn't mind people caring about being modest but she couldn't imagine being so restricted, she herself put shorts underneath her skirt and hoisted her skirt as up as she possibly could to still be covered, just so she could move and be active.
"Stupid policy about having to wear skirts..." she
silently muttered to herself.
