A small bang jolts me from my sleep. I instantly sit up and am hit with a massive amount of pain in my head. I wince and shut my eyes tightly before I feel the stinging pain near my eye. I wince again as I touch around it before I realize that my arm is caught on something. Opening my eyes again, I inspect my arm and see that I'm connected to a bag of fluid hanging up beside my bed through a needle in my arm. Quickly assesing more of my surroundings, I suddenly realize that I'm in the hospital. The revelation stuns me and while ignoring the immense amount of pain I'm in, I attempt to get out of the bed but am stopped by someone grabbing my arm and mumbling something inaudible from beside me. I jump at the unexpected contact and look down and the sleeping girl laying next to me.

I squint my eyes to try to see her face better in the dimly lit room. I can make out her messy dark hair and most of her facial features, but I can't seem to recognize her face. As I scan her features, it dawns on me how pretty she is. The observation leads me to question the situation.

Why was I in bed with a good looking stranger? What happened to my eye and my head? How did I end up here? Dozens of questions continue flooding to the forefront of my mind.

Deciding that I needed answers, I gently tapped the girl beside me a few times. Instead of stirring from her sleep, she makes some sort of groaning noise and turns away from me. Frowning, I decide to find answers another way.

I swiftly pull the needle from my arm and hop down from the bed. Looking around at my surroundings once more, I notice a big bouquet of flowers on the table next to the bed. Upon closer inspection, I see that there is a small card attached to them. I pick it up carefully.

Feel better soon!

Lucy

I knit my eyebrows together in confusion. I don't know anyone named Lucy, maybe that's who the girl in my bed is?

I look back at the girl again and decide that she probably is Lucy. I'm itching to ask her about what's going on, but ultimately let her sleep because, by the looks of things, it's been a long day. I make a mental note to thank her for the nice flowers.

I stand up from the bed slowly, nearly falling flat on my face, but I catch myself, using the table as a support. I hesitantly take another step forward and nearly fall for a second time. Looking around the room for any other aid, I spot a wheelchair next to the garbage can near the door. Using the wall for support, I stumble my way over to it and plop down exhaustedly once I reach it.

As I'm about to steer the chair out of the room, something in the garbage catches my eye.

I carefully pick up the crushed sunflowers and smile, wondering who knows that they're my favorite kind. I search under the wilted petals for a card similar to the one that Lucy had brought and locate it with ease. I bring it close to my eyes in order to read it in the dark room.

I'm sorry.
-C

I frown at the lack of information the card gives me. Who was C? Why were they sorry? Were they the one that did this to me? My frown deepens.

I look around the room for a final time before putting the sunflowers on my lap and rolling out of the room slowly.

My mind is scrambling to come up with possible scenarios for what happened to me and to put my mind at ease, I focus on finding a doctor.
