Visiting my friends in LA was always a good time. Everyone was so positive and hilarious and there was never a dull moment when they were around. Having said that, I still wanted some time alone with my best friend Ethan. Sure, the team was great, but I hadn't had time to just hang out with just him since I'd come to visit. That kind of made me sad because we'd always make sure to have time to ourselves whenever one of us visited. Time alone with each other was usually spent as a movie marathon while we caught up on what had happened with each other since we'd last visited.

Things had been like this between us for as long as I could remember. Ethan and I had been friends since we were in diapers and we'd never strayed from our little traditions. Well, we kept them up as well as we could due to living so far away from each other. It sucked, but that was what we had to deal with. I definitely couldn't move to LA, as much as I wanted to, I needed to work and gather enough money so that I could at least put real thought into it.

Of course, there was a bit of a cliche to this whole thing. I had, at some point, fallen head over heels for my best friend. I had never confessed to him or even hinted at it because I didn't want to ruin things between us. He'd been in my life for so long that, if we drifted apart, I had no idea what I would do without him. Anytime I thought about this I couldn't help but sigh to myself as I remembered how terribly cliche this all was.

"Hey, (y/n), you okay over there?" I was pulled out of my thoughts with a start, looking over to where my best friend had been watching me curiously.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I guess I just kind of zoned out for a second there." I assured with a laugh, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Did you need something?"

"I can tell." He chuckled a bit before seeming to remember something. "Yeah, I wanted to know if you wanted to go for a walk."

"Sure, that sounds great. Who's all coming?" I asked, grabbing my phone and slipping it into my pocket as we got to our feet.

"It's gonna be just us. I need to be selfish and steal my best friend from everybody for a while." He responded with a slight grin.

"I was wondering when that was going to happen." I joked with a grin on my face that matched the one on his. We were one in the same sometimes. I suppose that's what happens when you grow up with someone.

"Now let's get going before anyone can join." He motioned me to follow. We slipped our shoes on and quickly exited the building together, matching stupid grins on our lips. It was nice to know that he didn't forget about me.

During our walk we kind of just talked and caught up, as was usual, but something felt off. I couldn't really tell what it was, but it didn't really seem to be anything big, so I ignored it for now and continued to talk and joke around with him like I always did. Things were great and I couldn't really complain.

I happily followed along wherever he decided to guide me. As he talked about what had been happening with him I allowed myself to get lost in his features. His hazel eyes were shining happily and they had more of a blue tint to them than usual. Maybe it was the bit of bright blue sky peeking out from behind the looming storm clouds in the sky.

His lips were spread into a large smile and his hands were moving around frantically with every other word that came out of his mouth. I couldn't stop myself from smiling like an idiot. He was just beautiful and his happiness was so contagious. Then again, I may have just been a little biased when it came to him.

"We should probably start heading back now. It looks like it's about to storm." He pointed out, making me nod as I looked up to find the storm clouds were darker than before. There were more of them as well.
