Tris

Chapter 14

My eyes flash open, and I realize that today we will find out our baby's genders. A wave of joy washes through me, and I look at Tobias, who is smiling at me. Shining through the blinds, sunlight gleams on Tobias's teeth, making his smile light up. His hair is messy, and sticking up at strange angles, but it is still amazing. I can tell that he is just as excited as I am.
"You ready?" I nod. "I am too." His blue eyes are sparkling, and I feel like I can look into them forever. He must feel the same, because we sit staring for a few minutes.
"Come on Tris. We need to get ready." As I stand up, a wave of nausea runs through me, and I almost trip. Tobias runs toward me, asking,"Tris! Are you okay?" I nod, but I really don't feel that great.
I get dressed, still feeling a little nauseous, and I wear causal dauntless clothes.
Once Tobias and I are ready, we head out the door. When we are walking, I ask Tobias,"Are you hoping for a boy or girl?" He thinks for awhile, and finally says,"It doesn't matter to me, all I'm asking for is them to love us." I nod. "That's how I feel, too."
We finally arrive at the doctors, and they bring us into room 1. I lie down on the table, which is as cold as ice, and I start to shiver.
When the doctor comes in, Tobias walks to me, and he laces his hand through mine. "It's going to be okay," he whispers.
The doctor hooks me up to the machine, and I squeeze Tobias's hand. He squeezes back, but I can feel his hand shaking.
After about thirty minutes, the doctor walks over to us, and says,"You're having a boy and a girl." Tobias and I look at each other, both of us confused.
"What?" we both say. "You're having twins, a boy and a girl."
We nod, and leave the room. As we walk to our room, I ask,"After twenty weeks, why didn't we know we were having twins until now?" As I look at him, I can tell he's still confused, and probably wondering the same thing. "At least we can use both names now." Tobias says.
When we get to the room, I trip, and fall onto Tobias. My stomach flips, and I feel dizzy. Suddenly, the world starts to spin. My body starts to shake, and I feel extremely cold. "Tris, are you okay?" I try to say no, but the words won't come out. "Tobias, I think I'm going to-" I run to the bathroom, and I start to puke. The room is spinning, so I lie down on the bathroom floor, and close my eyes. I see Tobias running into the bathroom.
I hit my head on the sink, because I'm shaking so intensely. Tobias puts his hand on my forehead, and he curses. He grabs a thermometer, and puts it in my mouth. I look at him, my eyes filled with pain. "Tris, you're going to be okay." I hope he's right.
The thermometer beeps, and he takes it out of my mouth. Tobias looks at it, and he curses again. "What does it say?" I croak. "Are you sure you want to know?" I nod. "It says 105."
I start to cry, and Tobias say,"I'll be right back, Tris." I nod, even though I need him here. He sprints out of the bathroom, and I curl up into a ball, trying to stay warm.
After a few minutes, he comes back. He picks me up, and walks me out of the bathroom. He lies me on the couch, and puts a nice pack on my head. I start shaking even worse, and try to take it off. "Tris, I know you're cold, but that will help lower you fever."
He wraps three blankets around me, but I still feel freezing. Tobias gets me a heating pad, and puts it under my back. I close my eyes, and slowly drift off into sleep.
