Matt’s face came into view, but for once, I wasn’t happy to see him. His blue eyes shined brighter than I remembered, his hair still exactly the same... but longer. Beside him walked a beautiful girl, with calling violet eyes, and raven black hair that fell down to her back. I looked down and saw their fingers intertwined. Slowly, I turned around and walked away, crying, listening to Matt call my name from behind. I didn’t listen; I’m ready to just leave this haunting place forever.
As I walked towards the park for a little last minute swing on the swing set, I ran into none other than Trevor. At first he didn’t recognize me, most likely due to my once black hair that’s now a striking blonde, but when i looked up, realization crept onto his face. He tackled me, making both of us fall into the sandbox.
“H-h-hi Trevor...” I stuttered.
A sad expression crossed his face, as he said, “You okay, Ivy?”
As soon as I shake my head and burst into tears, he knows exactly who I saw.
“Ivy, look at me.” He says as he slowly lifts my chin and gently wipes the fresh tears from my face. “When you left, Matt fell apart. He wouldn’t eat or play any games. He just locked himself up in his room for days. He wouldn’t even make me dinner!” Trevor smiles as I laugh at his joke. I almost forgot how much Matt loved cooking.
“Trevor! That’s it! I know how to get Matt back now! But I need a kitchen to do it. Would you mind if I use yours?”
“Sure.” He smiled, then got up, helping me up too.
“Thanks. I’ll see you later?” Not waiting for a reply, I dash down to the Wonder-Market (Geez does everything here start in “Wonder”?) to get everything I need.
Once I have all of my supplies together, I head to Trevor’s house, when I run into Ben. Just as Trevor, Ben is shocked to see me but instead of greeting me in hugs, he continues walking. As I struggle to keep up, I scream out, “Ben!”
When he doesn’t respond, I call him again. “Ben! Will you please wait and help me?” At this he stops dead in his tracks and turns around eerily.
“Why should I help you? You destroyed Matt. You destroyed him so much, he had to go and steal my girlfriend, Wynter!”
I stop dead in my tracks. Matt took away Ben’s girlfriend? And Wynter stole Matt?
“How did they meet?” I asked, my eyes wide in shock. Trevor never told me this part.
“They met on the one day love spreads...Valentines Day.” He sits down on a bench, as he gets ready to tell me the story of his broken heart.
“I was out getting Wynter the one thing she’s wanted all year. She’s been wanting a Kindle, so she could read on the go. According to them, they met when Matt being his clumsy self, tripped over his shoelaces and fell on Wynter. Wynter said that she didn’t intend to, but after that encounter she knew that she loved Matt.”
As soon as he says the last two words, he bursts into tears. I’m not sure if I should let him cry peacefully or hold him and tell him it’ll be alright.
Instead of listening to my head, I listened to my heart and knew that he saved me once, so I needed to save him too. As I put my arms around him, attempting to comfort him, he slowly sat up and hugged me back. As he hugged me tightly, I wasn’t sure if I was happy Matt found someone new or if it tore me to pieces. Ben was an amazing guy, who tried his hardest to understand. It was super scary watching him cry and lose all of his sanity.
“Ben? Hey, look at me.” I say gently as I slowly lift his head up to look at me. “Wynter just lost an amazing guy. Even if she doesn’t love you, she should know she’ll always have your heart, right?” When I ask him that, he shyly blushes and looks away as I continue. “She’ll always have your heart, right?”
At this, he immediately stopped and smiled, “Sure Ivy, she can believe what she wants... but my hearts already been stolen once again.”
Oh crap...this doesn’t sound too good.
“Whose stolen your heart this time...huh?” As soon as I finish my questions he runs and runs until I can’t see him anymore.
It can’t be me... can it?
I hope not. I mean... I didn’t mean that in a mean way, but because I don’t know how I feel about Trevor yet... or how Matt dating Wynter makes me feel yet. All I know is that it hurts me that Matt just dropped me like, I was never a part of his life. Maybe, just maybe, I shouldn’t even attempt to get him back with cooking.
Matt seems happy with Wynter and he didn’t even attempt to run after me, so I guess he doesn’t miss me. Maybe I should just move on. I want him happy and to be loved, I left him when he needed me the most, Wynter has always been there for me. I mean I was his girlfriend...wait! We never broke up! He’s been cheating on me the whole time! I’m going to go confront him! And if I’m lucky then, Wynter will be our witness.
The little voice in my head is telling me that I shouldn’t do it...because to be fair, we never officially started dating. We just sorta got together and, well in my opinion, fell in love. I guess Matt never felt the same. I’m should go tell him that I’m leaving.
