I looked down at my couch still dead tired from earlier. That dream... I hadn't lived through those days in a long time. Not since my parents died in the beginning. That was just me recollecting of the past events of my own past. Why was it so real feeling and that girl I remember her face as clear as day how could I have just dreamt that. I pressed the button on the enter-com that was connected to Angela's desk.
"Angela I am going to go visit Doc hold any thing that comes for me."
That cute light hearted tone came back with a small crackle of the com "Of course, are you ok?"
"thank you Ang"
I opened the side door to go down the stairs. The survivor's that me and my crew had rescued were starting to get big almost 40 people were staying with us now in our make shift bunker. Back in the day Zach and I had decided to make Costco our HQ if anything catastrophic happened. Three years later here I am holding up a refugee camp with all these people and Zach no where to be found. I walked towards the right corner of our building and opened the door.
Doc's voice was almost immediate. "You have to knock and have a pass from.... Kelevra what can I do you for?"
Doc was a short but built Italian man that had gone through med training for the army and I had only known him for a few months now but we had quickly become good friends. He had these eyes that told you everything was going to be alright no matter what the circumstances were, and his voice went right along with that. His face was clean cut other then the scar then went down his left cheek. No one including my self doesn't know where he got it and he wont tell any one either.
"I am pretty wiped Doc, Saving those three girls pushed my self quite a bit."
Doc motioned for me to have a seat on his table.
"Kelevra is it possible you are just tired?"
"That's always a possibility doc but I don't think that is it. My muscles hurt every single one. I didn't even hurt this bad through Boot Camp."
"Now that is saying something, I want you to go back up to your room and rest and come check up with me when you wake."
Jumping down from the table I gave him a grunt and walked out of the room, and started walking back towards my office. I climbed the stairs that led to Angela's office as soon as I opened the door there she was standing there at her desk with this worried look on her face. Angela's office was smaller then mine there was a door behind her desk that was in the middle of the far wall, two plants that were in the corners of the room and a line of chairs for people waiting to see me. At this time the chairs were empty although there have been times when there was a line out the door to see me. I closed the door behind me and started to walk for my door. Angela ran over and hugged me and held me.
She always did this when she thought I needed some one. She had always had a thing for me ever since she got here. Angela was basically perfect in every way and I couldn't find a single flaw in her. She new what was going to happen before it happened. Her face was gorgeous high cheek bones button nose blue eyes and brown hair. If I were to ever love some one again it would be her. I gave her a one armed hug back.
"thank you"
"Kel how come you never hug me back truly hug me? Is there something wrong with me or something wrong that I did?"
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with you or anything you did Angela" I did my best to keep my voice soft and comforting, but its harder then it looks. Her voice when she spoke was soft and to a whisper.
"I have always seen you as more then just friends you know that don't you?"
"I am pretty sure everyone has seen that" I laughed a little bit. She leaned up on her tippy toes to kiss me. I quickly turned my head so it caught my cheek instead of my lips.
"No Angela, I can't and I don't think I ever will be able to. I can't ever see my self settling down. Not again."
"Again?" her voice sounded hurt and almost frail
"Ask Zach sometime"
"Zach hasn't been around for almost a year now" her face puzzled but innocent looking stared straight through my eyes and into my heart. It was the hardest thing I had ever done in my entire life to do but it had to be done.
"I know" I quickly kissed her on the cheek and strode to my office opening and closing the door as quick as possible. I walked over to my couch and slept.
The graveyard was quiet and deserted no zombies would ever come. Quiet deserted of people and zombies can't reanimate the dead only mutate the already living. I came here ever so often to get away from everything to concentrate on just one simple thing, memories. My mom and dad died at the beginning of the Zombie invasion. My mom was bitten then dad.... Any ways there both in the earth 6 feet under the ground. The graveyard was damp in the mornings and really foggy.
"Kel why do you always destroy your self by coming down here just to look at a piece of rock?" Zach's voice was smooth but almost a whisper.
"It's been a while Zachariah"
"Yes it has, your still not answering my question."
"Every year you ask that, and every year I never answer. What makes this year so much different?"
"I guess nothing. You need to learn how to open up kelevra."
"Ya ill open up when you come and see me again you know you haven't been around for the last year?" I looked over at him. And I quickly took a step back. He was bleeding from the neck with half his face chewed off. An eye was missing from it's socket while the other stared deep into my face. Zach was a zombie.
