Chapter 1: Introduction

My dad always used to tell me that life is what you make it , but in all reality , life is what comes of how you and your surroundings get along. But in my case , my surroundings and i don't actually get along so i guess you can say i go through hell on a day to day basis. I know you may be wondering .. "why do you say that ?" "life is a wonderful thing that you should cherish". Oh , i do cherish my life , no doubt about that. It's the people and their judgment, and how they handle situations that i for one can not stand.
Any who ... Hi , my name is DeLana Melanie Hayes , but everyone just calls me Lana. I was raised up on the upper westside of Los Angeles , California , not the wealthiest nor the poorest place to be but i guess it'll do. I currently live with my grandmother and my third oldest sister , Kayla who is a pain in my ass , if i might add. I have 3 older sisters , yes i'm the baby. First , there's Layken , the one who "set a high standard" for me and the others. She's married to a massage therapist , who goes by the name of Anthony. They have a very hyperactive dog that i can't deal with when they come to visit , Miles. For the most part , i get along with them , they aren't really around to see what goes on in our daily lives but it's alright in my book. The second sister , Ocean , the cannon , easily angered , the highly sensitive child who rarely comes around to prevent any sort of drama by that fact she is dating a masculine female , cameron. Ocean and i clash every once in a while but we are the same in some ways so she's okay. Last but not least , Kayla, The sister that i can fight every day of my life. She talks more junk than any school enemy i have ever had. She's about 3 months pregnant by her boyfriend , Kyle which i saw coming from the jump. She used to wear revealing clothing but i just call them "stripper wear". Kayla and I are very close in age which may be the cause of our daily clashes. My mom used to dress us up in the same outfit but different colors , like everyone thought we were twins .... barf right ? I know. Now lets get to the "Parental Authority " the ones who make "reasonable rules" and are there to "Listen" , "Help" with your issues when you're having them. My lovely mother , Adrian and my father , James. They aren't always a delight to talk to, well 95% of the time. They don't listen which is why i rarely talk to them but you know it's all good. They're the reason i'm emotionally unstable and have trouble using the bathroom from all the harsh disciplinary actions involving a switch and my ass. So that's it for my fantastic family. They're a hand full and 100% of the time i don't want to be around them but i'm sure many of you know exactly
how that goes.
    When i'm not with my marvelous family , i'm going to hang out with my best friend Meredith , hilarious girl , amazing grades , but isn't high on the social radar. She's lesbian and my mom doesn't exactly want me hanging out  with her but she knows well enough that's not going to stop me... does she actually believe she will rub off on me? Absolutely insane. Almost as insane as my parents believing that when they tell me i can't see my boyfriend then i'd actually let that happen. Speaking of , i never said anything about the love of my life , Eli. He's my heart , my diary , my everything. He's always there to listen to me and give me great advice when i need it the most. No one in my family likes Eli simply because i did something extremely brave and snuck him in my house with out anyone knowing except my sister , Kayla.  To shorten the story , my beloved sister , the one i thought i could trust with anything , told my parents and BOOM! I got caught. I was grounded for about 3 months and till this day no one trusts me but hey , that's my life. I'm almost 18 and some things have to change. i guess i have to make it happen on my own .
