It was a rainy wet day. The clouds dark the forest alive. It was one of my favorite kind of days , those dark cloudy days where I could believe anything could be true . But maybe not everything like vampires or werewolves. That's the day that everything changed. I woke with a start. My nightmares where getting worse ever since we moved to this new town. Green island was a town with only a couple hundred people, nothing compared to where we used to live in Toronto. I got up to get dressed I didn't want to be late again , but really school was like a prison to me. I had really bad grades and barley any friends. As I went down the stairs I saw that my mom had already gone to work. She worked at the drug store on main street. By the time I walked down the stairs I realized I was going to be late so I ran outside to catch the bus. I got there just as the bus turned down my road I got on the bus and went to go sit with April my best friend she was playing some game on her phone. April was tall and had bright green eyes with a slight tan , compared to me she looked like a goddess I was 5'8 and had dark brown hair and eyes and I admit a little chubby. When she looked at me she seemed happy and she was smiling .weird. "why are you so happy?" I asked she smiled and said "I just got asked to this party tomorrow night !" I smiled , if you ever wanted to party April was your girl. Our next stop was at my other best friends house , Nick got on and started walking toward us. He was always smiling no matter what the situation was. He always stood out no matter where we where. He is the only tall red head at our school , his bright blue eyes were wide with laughter when he sat in front of us he turned to talk to me and said "You where staring at me like you've never seen a ginger before!" the look I gave him made him only laugh harder. The thing was I really did like him and he didn't know so I tried not to blush. No matter what he said I always ended up blushing , it was always so embarrassing ! I didn't notice I was sort of day dreaming and had just realized Nick had asked me something " Im sorry what?" then he said " I heard there was a party tomorrow night and was just wondering if you want to go with me ?" I was so shocked I didn't answer right away and I seen him frown, but I quickly recovered and said " yes! I would love to go with you !" I couldn't keep the excitement out of my voice. I had to be the most happy girl on this bus right now! I was so shocked and happy that he had asked me! Then April said with excitement" We should make it like a double date!" to be honest I forgot she was even sitting beside me. I thought about what she had said , then before I could tell her that was not a good idea because me and Nick weren't dating but Nick spoke first" I think that's a wonderful idea!" then he winked at me and I felt like melting on the seat. I cant believe he just said that! I don't no what has gotten into him he's never shown this much interest in me , maybe he likes you I thought, I pushed that thought away we have never been anything but friends and Im hoping to keep it that way! I had to put my thought on hold because I realized I had been standing at my locker for some time now. The halls were almost empty- wait how did I even get to my locker? I don't even remember getting off the bus, it must be my day dreaming again I thought.. All my classes zoomed by and once again I found myself on the bus, but this time im not even listening to what April is saying , I felt really weird like I was going to be sick. It only got worse as I walked into my house. I yelled to see if my mom was home yet , but she must be working late again so I went up to my room to do my homework, but instead of doing my homework I went to go look out my window. Our house is surrounded by the forest which sometimes creeps me out but I liked the quiet. We only had three neighbors and we where fairly spread out. While I was looking out the window I felt so sick I could throw up all my guts and organs before that could happen I saw some of the bushes behind the house move , then I saw something really white flash by. I got the feeling I should go check it out so I grabbed my shoes and coat and ran out to the back door and ran into the bushes. I new I was being stupid but now that I was I was out there, there was no reason why she should stop. That's when she heard it. A high pitched scream coming from behind her, I turned around and realized how far I had really gone when I turned there was nothing there. I started walking again trying to find out where the scream had come from. I heard that same scream again but this time it sounded like it was right behind me I looked back and all I saw was flashes of white every where , it was moving so fast I could barley tell where it was , the next thing I new I was running back to my house. I just reached the backyard when I ran right in to someone and screamed. I was so freaked out and my nerves where high. Before I fell someone grabbed my arm and when I looked up it was Nick, I forgot that we where hanging out tonight. He looked at me and asked" Are you all right? why where you running from the woods? you should no better not to go wondering in there by yourself Alex!" I just stared at him. He sounded really mad he never got mad at me or yelled. Interrupting my thoughts he said" have you watched the news lately? there's been a lot of teen's disappearing from our school and every time one goes missing there body is found in the woods. you don't even want to no what they looked like when they where found!" I wondered why he was acting like this! then I said" well I saw something moving in the bushes, so I thought I should go check it out and just so you no there was nothing there, so I walked back!" He gave me this weird look then said" you where running and when you ran into me you screamed, so don't tell me there was nothing there I no you leaving something out!" before I could respond my mom yelled that it was time to go inside. I guess I've been gone longer than I thought. with that we drooped the subject and headed to the door in silence. When we got inside we ate then went up to go hang out in my room. We where watching TV when he asked" Are you really going to go with me to the party with me? I know your not really into parties and stuff, so if you don't really want to go, than you don't have to" I saw the frown when he said that, his eyes looked so sad I just wanted to hug him. No I thought , you need to keep your distance, remember were just friends and nothing else. Then I said" oh , no I would really love to go with you I don't really go out that much so that would be perfect !" As soon as I said that I saw his eyes light up and he had this huge grin on his face. Than he did something i thought he would never do . HE HUGGED ME! until i felt as thin as a peace of paper. Than he said" Im sorry im just really happy that your actually going to go with me!" The rest of the night i thought about what i was going to where tomorrow. I didn't have any tank tops or skirts. I new it was really late but i needed to call April , she was thrilled when i told her i needed her to take me shopping tomorrow.
