Chapter 7.
"I'm walking to school mum," I mumbled as I stood up from the counter Monday morning.
"Stop right there Annabelle." I paused mid-step and turned to face my mother. "Dean was kind enough to offer you a ride to school, so you're going to take it. It won't kill you."
"It might kill me," I muttered.
"I beg your pardon?" Mum turned her stare on me.
"Mum, please don't make me go with Dean," I whined.
"Why not?" She asked.
"Because he's moody and he hates me."
"Don't be ridiculous," my mother scolded me.
At that moment the doorbell rang. I crossed my fingers and hoped that the good mood from the day before would still be present. The first thing I noticed when I opened the front door was his cold his eyes. I sighed, I guess I wasn't lucky enough to get two days in a row.
"You ready yet?" He asked impatiently not even bothering to wait for my answer before he walked back to the shiny black Camaro parked in our driveway. I admired the car; it was beautiful, that much I knew.
"So, how did you sleep?" I asked as I got into the passenger side of his car.
"Mind your own business," he snapped at me.
I sighed and leant back into the seat, praying that the trip would be over as quick as possible. When we got to school, I noticed that a lot of people watched Dean as he got out of his car. They followed his movements like he was some kind of god. I climbed out of the passenger seat and walked into school alongside him and thankfully most people seemed to look straight through me like I was invisible.
"Why are you following me?" Dean growled when we had walked around twenty metres into school towards the senior area.
"Don't flatter yourself Dean," I replied getting annoyed by his mood changes.
"Flatter myself? I don't need to Annabelle, you do enough of that for me without having to do it myself," he stared into my eyes with a smirk planted on his face.
"Get over yourself Callow, you're not that great," I retorted planting a fake grin on my face.
I could see that the people around were staring getting their share of gossip, but I didn't actually care, my mind was focused on Dean at that moment and I wasn't ready to back down.
"You don't really think that, I bet on the inside you're dying to kiss me," he grinned looking like he was victorious.
"Kiss you? Hahaha. Is that some kind of joke? Who on earth would want to kiss an arrogant, self-centred jerk like you?" I snarled.
He leant forward and brought his mouth to my ear. "I can think of a few people, one of them being you," he whispered into my ear. His breath tickled my neck and spread warmth across my skin. I hated that he had this effect on me and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. He pulled back and stared down at me. I couldn't form words, my mind was completely blank. Damn.
