"I promise you I'll be back!"

Yea. What a promise that was.

You died right after.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You get to a point in this world where you realize that caring for others gets you killed.

You have to be selfish now.

That's the only way to survive, becuase when you reach that point, you realize that everyone you love gets killed, everything you ever loved, is just gone.

Selflessness, Caring, Love.

These things get you killed.

The saddest part of it all is that we were forced to grow up.

I'm 13, but I feel like I'm 31.

You have to be mature.

You have to kill to survive.

I remember the times when you could be as immature as you wanted and nothing about it could get you killed.

Now it's an entirely different story.

You act like a three year old, you're gonna die.

You have to act older than you are.

Everything Has Changed in the world.

-------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I bet you're wondering by now, who am I?

Well, good question.

My name is Carmen Flame, but everyone calls me Car.

I'm 13 years old and I am currently alone in the zombie apocalypse.

I have light brown hair and light silver-grey eyes and  my sturdy katana with me along with some other backup weapons.

I've been alone since the begging pretty much.

My mom died right after the outbreak, and then Chris went down a few months later.

I haven't had shelter since Tennesee, which is very far from here.

Atlanta 15 miles. A large green sign read, telling me to go away from Atlanta.

Atlanta in its glory days was a big city. There is no way I'm going there.

God only knows how many skin-eaters are there.

I walked a little ways more when I came across a train track.

I started walking to the west on the train tracks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After about 3 hours on the tracks, I heard a shuffle behind me.

I spun around, katana out, ready for any trouble.

I saw a glint in the woods and decided to talk.

"Come out if you've got any balls!"

A woman with a katana, much larger than mine, stepped out.

"Well I'm afraid I don't have balls, I'm a girl." Seconds later a man with a scruffy looking beard stepped out of the woods.

"What about balls now, Micho- Who are you?" He asked, looking me up and down.

"Same goes for you. Who are you?" I asked.

"Well... My name is Rick. How long have you been out here?" I looked around.

"Since the beggining pretty much." Rick nodded .

"I could tell. Now are you gonna tell us your name or what?" I looked at them. They were clean and looked healthy.

"My name is Carmen. What about you guys? You guys look pretty healthy. Got a home base set up or something?" Rick and the lady exchanged a look.

"How many walkers have you killed?" Rick asked.

"I don't know... The ones I needed to kill. Ones that we're about to kill me." Rick nodded.

"How many people have you killed?" Rick asked.

My heart pained.

"Only one."

"Why?" I held back tears.

"I was with another group and my brother and I were out on a run. While we were out, a small group of about three men had found us. The one man started doing... Things to me while the other two made him watch... My brother got loose and shot one of them and then the other. The guy on top of me was distracted and I spun and shot him..."

Rick and the lady exchanged glances.

"Do you wanna come with us?"  Rick asked.

I looked at my feet for a moment.

"Ok."

I looked at Rick and he smiled.

"Any questions for us?" He asked.

I shook my head.

"Well ok then. Come with us."

I followed Rick and the lady, I still haven't been told her name, through the woods until we came to a clearing. I almost squealed at the sight.

A prison.

No walkers inside the gate. Safe.

I followed Rick to a gate that opened slowly.

We quickly entered and the gates closed.

"Dad!" I heard.

I turned to look where the voice came from.

I knew it was a mistake.

Seeing him for the first time I knew I would break my rule.

Rule number 4: Don't fall in love

I knew I would break that rule for the boy in the Sheriff Hat.
