Some thought of her as a demon from the pits of hell, others thought of her as a science experiment, but she was mainly considered a weapon. Azriel was none of those. She was a person just like you and I, but she was merely gifted.

Azriel was born in a family with a mysterious past. Though neither of her parents had gifts of their own. The history comes from her grandmother. Her father's mother, Era, to be exact. The last gifted family on Earth, now the gift only lies with one person, Azriel, so they thought. Her grandmother abandoned them around the time she was born.

Azriel's father would tell her stories his mother told him so she could understand herself and know that what she has, what she is, is a blessing. Him and her mother were very cautious anytime Azriel was out of the house. They never knew when her abilities would be triggered. Although they didn't want to risk anything they also didn't want her to live life as if she was an abnormal child.

Azriel was the oldest of three children, she had a brother, Azazel, who she was very close with, and a sister that she never got the chance to properly bond with.

But, overall, they were a very happy family.

Azriel discovered her abilities when she was ten years old. It wasn't a big event that lead to bad outcomes. Overtime she developed new ones and figured herself out more. The first child was the only one able to carry the genes.

The first time Azriel had a public outburst was around the time she started middle school. A girl she had grown to dislike attempted to be violent towards her, which lead Azriel to throwing the girl across the room, fracturing her spine. It spread through town like wildfire, eventually making it to the news.

Charges were pressed and the whole family was constantly taunted for not "keeping their monster under control".

Though it became a big deal it never reached the attention of the government which was the last thing they needed.

Azriel's pov

"But I didn't mean it!" I argued back. My father and I were in a heated discussion over the events that just took place. I had probably repeated those same words twenty times already. But that's because I meant it.

"I've said this before and I'll say it again Azriel. It doesn't matter if your actions were intentional or not, you still need to be careful. Do you know what'll result from this?" I sat there in the principal office chair contemplating that answer. I'd never been in here before seeing as to how school only came and went up until now.

My father didn't say anything else after that, instead he just sat quietly but I could tell by the expressions passing through his face that he was frustrated. It was silent for a few minutes until principle Fort finally came back in.

"I just got the parents of the victim settled and went over the punishment with the police and staff members. We've decided that expulsion is what's best. As for the legal aspects the parents are leaning towards taking this to court. I'm very sorry to inform you." As she finished I couldn't do anything but sit there with tears forming in my eyes.

"As expected. I am very sorry for..." my father went on but I just stopped listening after that. All of my friends, all of the things I was accustomed to. It was the middle of my last year of middle school. Imagine having to readjust to a new setting so abruptly.

The car ride home gave me time to think about my current situation. What's the worst thing that could come from being taken to court? Jail. But I wouldn't go to jail it'd be some juvenile center for delinquents. I'm not a delinquent. Maybe they'll sue. Putting all that stress on my parents is the last thing I wanted.
