I woke up tired, angry and not in the mood for the world. I got off my bed and started walking into the bathroom, I turned the faucet to warm then hot and then I walked out to my room to open the curtains, I opened my wardrobe and pulled out a pink skirt with a white knitwear sweatshirt. I walked over to my closet pulled out some underwear and long fresh white socks and pink flats, I laid everything on my messy bed and walked out.
After my long shower I stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the mirror I looked at the girl who was certainly someone else since inside I was darker than her pretty face, her kind smile and casual friendliness. I grabbed my underwear which was black and a matching bra I put them on and looked into my long dressing mirror. The memories all came back they seemed far away but they would come anytime they wanted. I looked up from my collarbone and saw the many scars that descend to my stomach, they laced my skin so gracefully. My throat tightened and my mouth went dry, I blinked back the tears and put the rest of my outfit on.
After fixing my bed I walked into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and concealed the dark circles with concealer. No one knew I wore make up because my mother who had a degree in the art of make up professionally taught me how to hide my father's actions from the world, not forgetting my uncle. I washed my hands and towel dried them, I walked out of my room taking in a deep breath. I could smell something delicious from the top of the stairs that's also new I thought to myself "Good morning mom" I greeted her once I got into the kitchen "Good morning honey sit down I made some beef noodles." She said with a smile I knew she was trying to make us a normal family but we could never be the same. "Thanks mom. How are you this morning" she dished out the steaming noodles into a turquoise bowl. "I'm much better, it feels as though for the first time in a long time I have stepped out of a dark place and into the morning sunshine" I blew on the noodles to make them cooler "I'm very happy for you mom for us" she smiled and sat in front of me we both ate thinking about our new life in Coltonwood.
I sling my new backpack over my shoulder taking special care not to ruin my sweatshirt. "I'm leaving mom!!!" I yelled from the door looking into the round mirror for the last time "Oh honey, it's going to be so lonely here without you. But I'm glad you're finally going to be like a real teenager" I smiled little did we know she was going to wish she never said that "I will be back home as soon as school comes out" I took my car keys from the key hanger and hugged my mother before walking out the door. I'm finally going to a new school, with new people and new beginnings. It was perfect little miss pink sweatshirt talking, I used my house keys to open the garage and next to my mom's black Mercedes Amg was my grey hatchback Mini Cooper. Let's do this.
I revved up my car and carefully pulled out of the garage then the driveway. We really got a beautiful house it was a light shade of grey with white outlines. It was a double storey house with a manicured lawn and a pool at the back. It had a large black gate, the roof was black and everything was just the way I felt inside. I drove out of the gate and turned left the house grew smaller as I left it behind in my rearview mirror. All sense of security just disappeared along with the house, I felt it coming I slowed down and on the passenger seat was my beige coloured snapback I pulled out the blue bottle that held my sanity. I took two of them and took a deep breath, I was interrupted by a loud honk. I quickly pulled away, I found the school easily because it was the only one in the entire town, I sat in my car thinking about the day ahead I breathed in a couple of times and told myself I could do it. I looked at my dirty blonde hair, which was braided into warrior braids, I put on my coconut lip balm, one last look on my rearview and I grabbed my bag and left the car in the parking lot.
All eyes were on me as I walked up the bunch of stairs in front of the brown brick school the stairs were black with brown holding rails. My knees felt like they would buckle under me, I took in a sharp breath and walked into the school where less students crowded, they looked friendly but cautious too. I walked on looking for the principal's office, and at the end of the hall, after a left turn was a door with the words : Headmaster Foxboro in gold letters. I pulled down my skirt and knocked on the door twice very softly, "Come in" answered a gruff but gentle voice "Good morning sir, I am Elvira de Luca the new student" the incredibly young looking headmaster grinned "Good morning Elvira, no need for introductions. We all know each other in this town so when a pretty face like you shows up we know you can be the one and only Elvira" I swallowed this guy looks like he could be in a class with me. He can't be the headmaster "Thank you so much, Colton you can go to class now. Morning Ms de Luca forgive Colton's behaviour, this is your timetable and you can ask anyone you meet on your way to help you navigate your classes. " I took the fresh paper from him "Thank you sir" he smiled gently. He was a handsome man with little resemblance to the guy I had met before him.
I walked out of the office to hit a tough chest I closed my eyes a while trying to figure out what just happened "Well I'm sorry, I can get clumsy in the presence of such beauty" I knew that voice "Colton I'm just trying to get to class please excuse me" he smiled and straightened out his casual outfit. How didn't I notice his outfit, his entire body. He was wearing a pink dress shirt with beige chino pants and brown loafers. He was pretty, really pretty, "you don't mind if I show you around do you? Oh, no, you don't have a choice let's go our first class is English."
He walked ahead of me holding a brown leather bag those that looked like laptop bags. "Hurry up princess it can get really hectic in these halls" I hate the name princess...This is about to be a long day.
