Jack's pov
We weren't allowed to leave the station for 'safety reasons' so I was sitting in the corner of Mark's office looking out the window like always. Cry was with Felix in his office and I could hear there laughs through the wall. I wished to be able to laugh again but I just couldn't seem to escape this silent state.

"Hey Jack. I'm going to go get some food, you want anything?" Mark's voice came from the door. I didn't respond as I continued to stare out the window. It's not like I could.

"I'll just get you some hot chips and a drink. Then I am going to keep you company," He said, making my eyes widen. I turned to him to see him leave and couldn't call out to him. Part of me wanted him to stay with me but another part wanted him to stay away. I was torn between both sides and couldn't cry out for help.

I let out a quiet sigh and turned back to the window, seeing Mark on the street below. He was getting into his car to leave but I couldn't take my eyes off him. The way he walked, the small smile that seemed to rest on his face, the way his hair fell over his face. I didn't want him to leave...

I woke to a gentle hand on my shoulder. Normally I would have jumped away from it but this hand was warm and welcoming. I wanted their touch to stay and when I opened my eyes chocolate brown met ocean blue. A small smile appeared on my face when he showed me the food he'd brought for us.

"I let you sleep in a little bit but it should be hot still. The place I go to usually makes it so it burns your mouth so it was probably good they cooled down a bit," Mark said in his calm voice.

I nodded a little and sat up so my back was leaning against the wall. Mark placed the packet of rolled up chips on the floor in front of me and opened it. A wave of nostalgia washed over me as the familiar smell of hot chips hit me. I picked up a chip and bit into it, enjoying the delicious taste. (Me)

"Here, I got you a milkshake. It's chocolate," Mark said, handing me the large drink. I looked at him with gratitude but feared I wouldn't be able to drink it all. There was a knock at the door and Felix's head appeared in the doorway.

"Do I smell chips?" He asked eyeing the food on the floor.

"Yeah, come on yah Swedish assfuck. I got two because I knew you'd want some. Invite Cry in too if he wants some though," Mark said with a chuckle. I was kinda glad he'd let them join us because soon we were all laughing and joking about different things, me as an exception since I couldn't speak though.

We talked long after the food was gone and long after the sun went down. Felix and Cry left at around midnight to go home and sleep. A guard went with them to keep them safe while they slept since both of them were exhausted. I let out a quiet yawn to which Mark heard and turned to me.

"You tired?" He asked, though it was more of a rhetorical question, I nodded. "You ah, want to come to my place and sleep. I still have that spare room and a guard can come keep an eye out for us."

I felt my smile creep up onto my face and nodded. Mark smiled as he held a hand out for me to take and lifted me to my feet. Our faces were inches apart and my breath got caught in my throat. I stared into his eyes as my heart skipped a beat and my face reddened.

"I'll be right back. I just gotta find someone to watch the house for us," Mark whispered but he didn't move. I didn't want him to either. I felt myself leaning forward a little bit and stopped. Mark had noticed though and leant in the rest of the way, our lips meeting in a passionate kiss.

It felt like forever when we pulled away but the few seconds our lips were together had made everything in my body melt and become weak. A slight smirk played onto Marks face and he took a step back.

"I'll be right back then," He said, his voice shaking slightly. Was he also that affected?

It wasn't long before Mark came back with an officer names Bob. He was pretty tall but didn't entirely look like he would be able to chase anyone away but scare them yes. He was pretty intimidating and made me want to hide in my hoodie but it was too small for that.

"Don't worry Jack. Bob's a good friend of mine and won't let anyone hurt you," Mark assured with a smile. I looked at Bob to see he was smiling as well and felt a little better. Mark led me out the back again where his car was parked and I got in the back, even though he offered shotgun.

Bob started talking to Mark about this new store in town that sold a special kind of food but it was blocked out as my thoughts swarmed my head. I stared out the window, finding it more peaceful than looking in the small car. It always feels like I'm in something smaller than it actually is, a room or a car, and looking out windows makes it go away.

"Here we are," Mark said as we pulled into his garage. The electric door went down and the small orangey light lit up the open room. Mark ended up opening my door for me since I hadn't moved and motioned me inside. I did as shown and walked into the familiar building and smiled at the memories.

"I'm going to stay out here and keep an eye on things. You guys can go to sleep if you'd like," Bob said with a friendly smile. Mark thanked him and returned his gaze to me. I just nodded and walked to the room I'd stayed in last time to see everything was in place yet it felt lonely.

I looked back at Mark, who had followed me to the room, and gave him a sheepish look. He smiled, knowing what I meant, and got in bed with me. He stayed on the opposite side to me but I rolled over and snuggled into his chest. I heard him chuckle as his arms wrapped around me and held me close. We fell asleep like this.
