Chapter two

Chapter 2

The three people looked up at me and stared me straight in the face like if they looked away I would disappear into thin air. 

"So you guys look familiar what are your names?"

I finally spoke up breaking the unbearable silence in the room. 

" Hi, my name is Sergio and this is Miriam and Rene. You probably recognize me from the football team Real Madrid." 

That's when it hit me, I knew him and in that case all of them he was my favorite footballer. I stared at them in aw of the people in front of me. I yelled at myself in my head saying keep it together, don't fan girl! 

"Oh, um, erm ok that makes sense, I cant believe I couldn't have figured that one out for myself..."

I said stumbling over my words like a fool. I mentally face palmed myself. 

" So Hailey the Ramos's are going out to dinner how about you go with them so they can get to know you a little bit better?"

My "mom" Amy recommended in a compassionate tone. After thinking about it and reflecting on the last few moments of my life and beginning to come to terms with the fact that my life has just been flipped upside down. 

" Sure that sounds like fun, is that ok with you guys?" 

I asked nervously, which was strange for me because all my life I have been an outspoken person. I blame that on the situation at hand. 

"Of course you can, how about you go get cleaned up and we'll live when you finish."

Miriam said quietly, I just nodded and ran up stairs in to my room. I couldn't believe what just happened. I changed into a pair of dark wash jeans and a cute Jack Wills top and went to the bathroom. I quickly washed my makeup off and brushed my teeth before putting lighter makeup back on and putting my hair into a bun on top of my head. I could hear arguing downstairs so I decided that I was ready and needed to go break up what was happening downstairs. I ran down the stairs to find my real parents and thee one that had raised me yelling about who I was going to live with now.  

" Hey lets just calm down and figure it out at a not to emotional time. Ok?"

I interjected as quickly as I could, they stopped on command and sat back down and nodded. 

" How about we get going?" 

Rene said in a calm tone, looking from our parents to me looking to confirm his offer. 

" Yes lets head out, are you guys ready?" 

I said and looked around for conformation from everyone. Everyone got up and shuffled over to the door. We exit the house but more importantly the tense atmosphere. We got into the car and a few remarks were conversed in Spanish then Sergio turned to me, 

"So do you play football or sports in general?"

He asked trying to lighten the mood. 

"I actually do play football, I play the same position as you do." 

Everyone's face was very happy and proud. 

[Skip dinner}

After we had an amazing dinner the problem at hand cam back into question. 

"Hailey, who do you want to live with? Any one of the three of us or your Amy and Steve here?" 

My biological mother Paqui asked me in rough English. 

"Um how long do I have to choose?" 

I asked in and unsure tone but in the back of my mind I already knew the answer. I wanted my live to be more than living in some humdrum town. I want to travel the world with my family and play football and what a better way. Don't take any of what I said the wrong way, I'm no gold digger, I have grown up very privileged. 

" You have about ten seconds... starting now!"

Sergio yelled out. I panicked at the thought that I only had ten seconds to make a decision that would change my life forever. 

"I want to go back to Spain with you guys." 

I blurted out.
