Soulmate ('səʊlmeɪt): A person with whom you have an immediate connection to; ideally suited to another as a romantic partner.
Love, such a simple word yet it holds more meaning than the world could; a four letter word that occupies the oceans with it and drains it from existence. A word that fills up the skies and galaxies in this entire universe we know. It's the easiest and hardest thing you could do. Plato came up with a theory of soul mates; in short, "humans" had four arms and legs and two heads. As a punishment from the gods, they decided to split this "human" into two so they would be miserable and ache for so long until they reunited with their lover.
Those were the thoughts running through Clarke's mind as she examined her new found wound on her hips; it was a large gash that spread from her chest to her hip bone. She examined it in the mirror and sighed, knowing why it was there but not knowing the cause. She headed to medical to get the wound treated. "Back so soon?" mocked her Jackson as he motioned for her to get seated on one of the beds, "Are you sure your Soulmate isn't trying to get you killed?" he asked as he disinfected the wound and started the process of stitching the wound shut.
"This Soulmate will literally be the death of me," she stated trying to distract herself from the pains that erupted from both the wound and its stitching, "How do they manage to hurt themselves that much in a day?"
"They must be vicious then," Said Jackson as he winked and the two chuckled at Jackson's sense of humor. After a few minutes of their conversations, Jackson was done and Clarke went to retire for the night. She laid in her thinking about her Soulmate. Her mom first told her about Soulmates when she was 7, after Clarke suffered multiple injuries and bruises that took over random places in her body. Clarke cried from how much pain that caused her and she swore to her mom and dad she didn't do anything to hurt herself. Heck, she was just lying in her comforter drowsy when pains of all sorts emerged and ate at her body. She screamed for them to stop but they wouldn't. She felt pains on both her sides, she felt her hair being tugged and pulled, and she felt her stomach twist from the pains. The only thing she could do was shed tears and scream for them to stop. Once they stopped emerging, her parents rushed her to the ark's medical and she was treated for the wounds and cuts that covered different areas of her body. That's when her parents told her about 'Soulmates'. The next day, she searched her classes to find someone that matched her bruises but to no avail. Clarke found herself reminiscing on the ark days and slowly falling asleep.

You heard the story a thousand times but you never believed it; until the injuries that mysteriously appeared on your body started to affect your fights in battles. It started out with small scratches and cuts, nothing you can't handle, but you always assumed it was from your constant fighting. You refused to believe in those stupid folk stories. How can someone you've possibly never met cause so much damage to your body? But when the sky people made their way to your beloved grounds, you started to slowly believe in the so called 'Soulmate'. Prior to their invasion, you got nothing but small scratches. As soon as the clans decided to attack them, you realized that your Soulmate could've been a part of Skaikru. Almost every attack on Skaikru resulted in your pain somehow. It didn't bother you until one night. You were heading to go to sleep when you fell to the floor and started to gasp for air. Your lungs ached for air but you couldn't breathe no matter what. The guards rushed towards you and even called onto a healer to try to see what was wrong with you, but you still couldn't breathe. Your lungs started to burn and your heart started to slow down trying to preserve as much oxygen as it could, your limps slowly going numb. You didn't understand what was going on, no one did. The healer tried to help but his helps were useless. Deep down in your heart, you knew why. Your Soulmate couldn't breathe and so it affected you. Just as your body was about to give up, your windpipes opened and you took the deepest gasp of air you could to retain the lost oxygen. "Heda, what happened?" you heard one of the guards say but all you could think about was your Soulmate. "Take me to Skaikru," you exclaimed as the guards prepared the horse and lead the way to their camps.
At your arrival, you saw their camp was burned to the ground. You stepped off your horse and went to greet the people who did this with your sword. Trishana Kru was at fault and your sword would show no mercy. "All hail the Heda," You heard the guards say as Trishana Kru dropped to their knees and bowed to you. You looked at the ones at fault with so much hatred, previously informing every clan that Skaikru was officially a 13th clan. Three members of the clan were in front of you, "Traitor Isaiah kom Trishana Kru. You have attempted to go against my orders and kill one of my clans. You're punishable by death;" your voice said loud and clear, "Furthermore, if anyone stands with these three traitors, speak up. The Heda's sword shall not forgive anyone," The three members shook their heads, confirming they're the only accomplices and masterminds of this plan. Your sword took them all out with one sway, but you knew how slow and painful their death would be. They fell to the floor and started to choke. You turned your back to them and saw the majority of Skaikru witnessing the events that unfolded in front of them. You took a deep breath and approached Kane, asking him about his people and their wellbeing. The guards brought healers from Polis to help with the injured. As you entered the tent with the patients, your heart started to beat faster. Your Soulmate was here. Despite melting on the inside, you kept your act together and looked at the patients in hopes you'd find them but to your disappointment. You left the tent and stood outside looking at the damage the traitors did. Almost all the tents were burned; their ships that were once houses to them became nothing but metal scrap. "Thank you for what you did," You heard a voice say. You turned around and looked at the source of it. It was a short girl with blonde hair. As soon as your eyes met, you felt your heartbeats increase by the second. You smiled because you knew. You saw a little smirk form on her lips and a gleam in her eyes. It was one of those moments, where the background fades and all you could see was her. You found her. Your soulmate. "And I'm sorry for almost killing you last night," She added as she pointed on the purple bruise that marked your neck. "I should be the one to apologize. One of my Clans did this and I couldn't do anything," You said as you slowly approached her, "I should also apologize about the injuries prior. I didn't know such things existed"
"You mean Soulmates?"
"Yeah those," You clarified her confusion and took another step towards her, "I caused you a lot of pain without my awareness. My deepest apologies" You were finally a few inches away from her, her face slightly tilted upwards to match your height. You leaned in and rested your forehead on hers, "I've been waiting for you all my life," you heard her say. You smiled and leaned in to finally connect your lips on her. Yours lips molded perfectly against each other. You couldn't help but smile.
"And I thought the legendary Heda couldn't smile," Clarke said as your lips parted each others, "But could you just be extra cautious. Your wounds really hurt."
"Anything for the love of my life"
