JonBenét Patricia Ramsey was a 6 year old american beauty queen who was found dead in the basement of her Boulder, Colorado home on 26 December 1996.
26th December 1996:
At 5:30 AM, Patsy Ramsey (JonBenét's mother) woke up to make a cup of coffee but during this time she finds a 2 and a half page note, regarding JonBenét, on the back staircase of the house. The note demanded that Patsy and John drew out $118,000 in cash from the bank.
Patsy calls 911 from her wall phone in the kitchen, in hysterics. However, she tries to disconnect the call halfway through and faint suspicious whispers are heard. The dispatcher stayed on the line until Patsy realizes the call did not end and hangs up immediately.
The police take action quickly and start an investigation into what they believe is a kidnapping. Eight hours later, John Ramsey searches the home and in the spare room in the basement that was used to hide Christmas presents, JonBenét was found dead with critical injuries including: A skull fracture, A blow to the head with a possible flashlight, strangled with a garrote and her mouth had been covered with duct tape. John brings the body upstairs and puts her down on the living room floor. She was then moved into another room.
30th December 1996:
Just days after, police took blood and hair samples from all family members. Police also stated that JonBenét's adult half-siblings were out of town the day of her murder.
1st January 1997:
Before Patsy and John Ramsey had an interview with the police they gave an extensive interview to CNN in which Patsy Ramsey proclaims "there is a killer on the loose." John Ramsey calls the idea that he or other members of his family could have committed the crime "nauseating beyond belief."
Five detectives from Boulder fly to Atlanta, where the Ramsey family previously lived.
