My body ached and my wrists burned. Dried blood stuck to my arms and legs , making it hard to move. The cuts that lined my body made me not want to move but I had to. The rope burn on my wrists stung each time they brushed my side and each breath was like fire in my lungs.
But I still did as I was ordered. I would rather put myself through the pain I had now than have to endure it all again. I would rather have each movement cause pain than not be able to move from all the pain I felt.
I stumbled as we walked up the stairs and earned a shove in the back, making me lose balance completely and fall to the ground. I was luck to reach the top before I had or I would have landed on the stairs themselves. I felt a sharp pain in my arm as I was lifted to my feet and thrown forward again, managing to keep my balance this time.
"Hurry up! A million dollars is waiting for us!" His voice said harshly. I quickened my pave for a few seconds to make sure I wasn't going to be shoved again but made sure I wasn't too fast in case they thought I was trying to escape.
I looked to my side as we neared a truck to be met with an ocean blue fear. Our eyes returned to our feet only a second later when we were both shoved, this time I wasn't the one to fall.
I was forced to stop when they couldn't get back up again. I could only watch in terrified silence as they were pulled to their feet, only to fall down once again. My fear grew when he stepped forward and grabbed them by the neck, forcing them to look into his eyes.
"You will walk or die," he growled, dropping them once again. I watched as they weakly climbed to their feet and limped forward. I hung my head as we were shoved forward again and pushed into the truck.
Once the doors were shut I turned to the weak figure in the dark and tried to shake them awake. Their eyes half opened and I could see the life drained from their eyes. I took a shaky breath as the front doors opened and closed, signaling the monsters were in the front.
I couldn't see them from the back as there was something covering the view. They'd probably put it up in case they were pulled over so no one could see into the back but it meant I could help my weak friend beside me.
"Jack. Come on Jack, don't give up. I know Ohm is a good person. He'll never hurt us," I whispered in hopes of giving the weak male something to fight for. His eyes drooped but he managed to keep them open as I helped him sit up. He'd suffered this torture longer than I had and was weaker because if it but deep down, he still wanted to fight.
"Even if Ohm turns out bad, He probably won't be as bad as these fuckers...," I paused as I thought of something. What if Ohm is helping us escape. He couldn't have just gotten a million dollars from no where, even if he had it secret. He must be using it to draw these guys to him with us where we can be rescued and they can be arrested. Or he would have paid upfront.
I smiled weakly as the thought arose and turned back to Jack only to see his eyes fully closed and his breathing short and slow. We were running out of time. He needed medical help and fast.
"HEY! STOP! HE'S NOT BREATHING! HE'S LOOSING TOO MUCH BLOOD!" I shouted, not knowing what else to do. A small door opened and the familiar face of Russ looked through.
"In ten minutes, he won't be our problem," he said with a crooked smirk.
"In ten minutes you'll have one less person to trade meaning you'll have less money," I shot back, trying desperately to get them to stop. His smirk dropped to an angered frown and I was afraid he was going to throw something at me but he just scoffed.
"There's some rags somewhere back there. You stop the bleeding and I'll convince our friend to let you recover for a week," he said, thinking I'd leave him to die otherwise. The door shut and a small dull light flicked on.
I saw the rags at the end of the truck and crawled to them. But just as I'd picked them up the car swerved and I was flung into the side. I cursed under my breath and pushed myself back up. Thankfully Jack hadn't rolled anywhere as he was on the side we'd been thrown towards.
I crawled back to him and immediately started wrapping his arms and legs in the stained cloth. I was soon out but still had to deal with a gash on his head. I'd only noticed it after everything else was covered and realised he might have a concussion from it.
I frantically looked around the back for anything else I could use but there wasn't any. I felt him move by me and grabbed his hand, hoping to give some sort of support. His eyes barely flickered open and he weakly looked at his surroundings before his eyes fell upon me.
"Cr... I... eel... zzy...," he breathed out but his voice dropped out several times. I tried to figure out what he'd said but I couldn't peace anything together.
"What? Jack, please. Tell me what you said. Your voice dropped out too much," I said desperately. He took a few shaky breaths before trying again.
"I... feel... dizzy...," he breathed out, each word sounding forced. It was understandable due to his condition and the fact that he hasn't spoken properly in months but my main worry was whether he would make it or not.
The car suddenly lunged to the side and it felt like we were being thrown upside down. Luckily we'd only landed on our side and I was the only one who got flung across the back since once again, Jack was on a the turning side. He was still hurt from the crash but not as much as me.
"GET OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!" A strong voice shouted. I felt relief wash over me and turned to Jack but it soon vanished. Jack's eyes were closed and he wasn't moving or... breathing.
