"That's enough May, you drink too much already."
Padarag na inagaw ni Edward ang bote ng beer na hawak ni Maymay at inilapag ito sa center table sa sala ng condo nito.
"Ano ba? Di pa naman ako lasing ah, tsaka sinunod ko na nga ang gusto mo diba? Na pag mag-iinom ako, dito na lang ako sa bahay."
Pilit na inaagaw ni Maymay ang bote kay Edward pero hindi niya ito makuha dahil sa haba ng braso nito.
"It's because you always got yourself into trouble whenever you got wasted on any bar you went before."
Pinitik ni Edward ang kamay ni Maymay ng tangkain muli nitong kunin ang beer. Napaka kulit talaga nito lalo na pag lasing.
Di na mabilang ni Edward kung ilang ulit na niyang kinailangang ayusin lahat ng gulong pinapasukan ni Maymay sa tuwing nalalasing ito sa mga bars noon. Madalas itong mapaaway lalo na pag nagsimula na itong magwalwal dahil sa kalasingan.
Ang pinakahuli ay ang pinakamalala dahil muntikan na itong mabastos ng isang Tsekwa dahil inakala nitong isa ito sa mga babaeng nagtatrabaho doon. Good thing he came on the right time and caught the man on the act of doing something that can make him deliver the man to hell.
And that was the last straw for Edward. Pinahatid niya si Maymay na abala na sa paghilik sa kaibigang si Marco sa bahay niya habang siya naman ay dumiretso sa presinto dahil inireklamo siya ng intsik ng physical assault pero agad din nito iyong binawi ng bantaan niya ito ng patong patong na kaso gaya ng act of lasciviousness, over staying in the Philippines at kung anu-ano pang kaso na sumindak dito.
He wouldn't be called the ruthless Attorney Edward John Barber for nothing. Hindi siya sumusugod sa isang laban na walang dalang sandata.
And all this troubles he needed to went through was because of this one girl who do nothing but to burn her liver with alcohol because of one stupid reason. Being indespair.
Maymay was his bestfriends for how many years that he already lost count. He was fourteen when they first met while she was already seventeen. He didn't know how it happened but he just found himself being with her all the time. They are both first years college at that time, he accelerated three times that's why at the age of 24 his name was already talk of the town as the future of Justice Department of the Philippines.
While Maymay chose to be a freelance interior designer because she's not fond of a 9 to 5 job. She wants to have the full control of her time.
And their friendship remains stronger as time passes by. It also puzzled the both of them how they manage to keep their friendship though they have different careers to pursue but one thing is for sure, there will be no day in a week that they won't pester each other.
One of them see to it to visit the other to atleast have coffee and talk everything under the sun. They say they won't last a week without each other.
But things change for Maymay three years ago. Edward still remember how his headache started.

Muntik ng mabilaukan si Edward sa iniinom niyang tea dahil sa pabalagbag at walang habas na pagpasok ni Maymay sa opisina niya sa law firm kung saan siya nagtatrabaho bilang junior apprentice ng isang sikat na abogado at justice secretary.
