(Ash)
The building was looking like it was about to crumble as I stumbled my way towards the entrance of the huge building without hesitation. Kailynn told me that Mason could be found here but I wasn't so sure at this point. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead and took out my walkie talkie, "Kailynn? You there?" I spoke through the speaker as soon as the ring finished.
No answer was given when I pulled the plastic machine away from my lips. I guess she was still asleep. Truth was that I was bit nervous to find this Mason guy. What if he tried to kill me? I don't know what I would do then. I remember Tobin referring to me once as his "Best combat spy."
I hope he won't ever have to look down at my grave regretting his decision to send me off on this trip. I started running to the rendezvous point I sent to mason that was untraceable. When I turned the corner I got smacked into some guy with dusty dark brown hair and blue eyes like sapphire. That's when my inner spy kicked in.
I raised my fist because Lulu shot out of my hand upon impact with the guy in front of me. My fist smacked into his chest but he only stumbled back a few feet. Yet, it still gave me time to throw my body towards his and pin him to the ground.
"Mason! Tell me your plans or I will be forced to bring you to HQ!" I yelled in his face, Lulu only a few inches away from my foot. His eyebrows furrowed and I scanned his face.
"Dude I'm not-" I cut him off by placing my hand over his mouth.
"Save it Mason, you're coming with me." I said taking my hand away from his mouth and then lifting my body from his and holding his hands behind his back. He sighed and then began to talk only to be interrupted again by a gruff voice.
"Ashton, hello! So nice to see you again." I squinted in the dim light of the sun. The voice sounded so familiar but so distant at the same time.
"Step into the light." I offered and a thunder cloud started to roll in over our heads. A shadowy figure appeared out of the corner and I silently looked him over then back towards the guy I had beat up earlier.
"Told you I wasn't mason." he mumbled and yanked his hands free. The real mason emerged completely and came forward with an evil smile.
"I havent seen you in a while Ash. Tell me, How's Oliver?" my heart skipped a beat at the sound of my brother's name. He knew Oliver. I started to talk but it came out as more of a whimper. I barely knew this guy but it seemed he already knew all my weaknesses.
In a blink of an eye the guy with the dusty hair starts to jump on Mason. I jump into action as well. I run over to where Mason came from and turn in a complete circle. It's a dead end. He must have been waiting for us here then. Cries of mercy and knuckles and bones cracking are heard in the distance but I don't pay much attention to it.
I sweep my hair back quickly into a ponytail before grabbing onto a broken piece of the wall in front of me. It's sturdy enough to hold my weight so I look for a place to put my foot. It isn't hard and it's easy to keep my balance on the rugged bricks but then I hear my name.
"Ashton!" I turn around just in time to see Mason running towards me with a metal bar gripped tightly in his hands. The other guy is slumped up behind him leaning on a wall, a giant gash in his arm. I gasp loudly and all the air is knocked out of me.
I blink too many times and then the darkness sweeps over me without warning.
-*-*
I came out of the darkness blinking away the fuzziness. I felt a throbbing pulse in my head and reached up to find the source only to have my hands chained to a pipe.
"Well good morning sleeping beauty." I turned to look at the voice. Mason. My eyes shot down to the object in his hand. My modified Beretta m9! MY LULU!! I struggled to get up because my leg was numb. I looked down at it and saw the bullet slowly dissolving.
I glared up at him. He took out lulu's mag and all the bullets and threw it out of reach and then lulu. I slumped down against the wall and waited for him to kill me and the other guy. Speaking of which where is he? I looked over and saw him battered and bruised but awake even if you call a daze awake. I turned back to Mason and glared at him.
He chuckled and left the room.
I waited and waited I didn't know if it was day or night because of the lack of windows. I sat in a helpless pile on the floor until I saw the guy with dusty brown hair shift and kick out his leg toward something. My walkie talkie lay on the floor about 3 inches away from his foot.
I gained a new ounce of hope as he kicked it over to me. I hit the talk button with my feet once I got hold of it.
"Kailynn, I kind of need some back up! Please don't still be a sleep you can sleep when you're dead! I'm at the rendezvous point. Send help." I could hear very faint voices and the slow pitter patter of rain against the stone walls and roof. I turned towards The guy.
"What's your name anyway?" I asked the guy.
He replied slowly and quietly,"Clay. Well actually Clayton." I nodded my head at his answer. Silence captured the conversation. Since we hadn't gotten a reply from Tobin or Kailynn, I lost most of my hope that we would get out of here. Before I could talk I heard Clay murmur to himself.
"We're screwed."
