I can't move. I'm sitting in in my brand new car, staring at the bright green door of the old coffee shop. I've been waiting for this moment from the day I quit my job years ago. So what's holding me back now?!

Finally able to summon the courage, I open the car door and slide out onto the crumbling pavement. I shut the car door with a satisfying slam and march towards the building.

Inside, the shop is just as I remember it. The warm but slightly burnt smell of coffee and the loud, endless chatter coming from our-- no, wait, THEIR endless stream of customers. It's surreal being back; I have to keep reminding myself that I'm no longer trapped in this place. Several people stop to stare as I pass by their tables. One woman freezes, her cup halfway to her mouth, and I almost burst out laughing!

After ordering my cappuccino, I have to insist that they let me pay! What a weird world we live in. Now my picture is plastered all over LA, and people are trying to give me free coffee wherever I go. It's almost like no one remembers that a few short years ago I was just another struggling actor... a nobody.

I shake myself back to reality and walk to my car, clutching my coffee like a lifeline. I used to think everything would be easy and painless once I was successful-- but when I was offered the role of a lifetime, was taking it the right choice? I guess I'll never really know... after all, there's no going back.
