"MICHAEL, STAY FOCUSED!!!" Jeremy busted out at said boy, the teens were once again in the basement to play "Apocalypse of the Damned" level ten - the principal's office.
"RIGHT right, sorry" Michael said hastily, getting his head back in the game. Though there was no use as the zombified principal expelled the two players from life. A series of cussing and cursing withdrawn from the boys as they place the controllers on their laps to rest their sore thumbs and fingers.
"Damn ... we were just about there too!" Jeremy muttered more to himself than to the both of them.
"Yeah, we didn't even make it as far as last time though" Michael retorted to his friend. Jeremy shrugged in response to the other. Micheal easily detected the discomfort.
"Hey, don't sweat it Jer-bear! Now that the Squip is gone we can take all the time we want to finish this game!" Michael cheered making a grab for his drink.
"Wait... Gone? Michael what do you-" Jeremy started but quickly interrupted himself seeing that Michael wasn't paying attention as he chugged his Mountain dew.
His Mountain dew....
Green Mountain dew...
How could Jeremy possible forget.
Three weeks ago
trigger warning
Jeremy backed away from the crowed of squipped students, now surrounded by all sides, he knew had to do it now. Jeremy raised his arm, Mountain dew red in hand and opened his lips.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you!" the Squip warned appearing at his side glitching into sight.
"WHY NOT!?" Jeremy screamed at the hologram, fed up with its ways.
"Because then you'll never be with HIM!!" the Squip stated as he took hold of Jeremy's shoulders spinning him around to face the squipped students, but one student stood out of the rest as he stepped forward. His glass cleaned, headphones around his neck, hoodie tied around his waist.
Scars on his arms, no longer hidden
"M-Micheal?" Jeremy question very confused at what was going on, eyeing the hoodie that Micheal used to hid his past.
"Hey Jeremy, how've you been man!?" Micheal said brightly as he came forward to give him a hug. Micheal squeezed his friend but Jeremy did not return the embrace still shocked. As the taller hugged him Jeremy sight shifted to the other students when he eyed one student with a half empty bottle of green mountain dew.
Putting two and two together, Jeremy slipped out of the embrace clutching the mountain red to his chest.
"That is not Micheal..." Jeremy said feeling betrayed. No... Micheal should feel betrayed, he ditched him, used him, back stabbed him, and humiliated him. even after everything he did to him, he still came to support him at the play too, and now he is squipped.
"Are you sure about that?" the Squip questioned after peering into his mind, "That is Micheal but only his viruses and glitches were removed!" the Squip finished appearing behind Micheal taking hold of his shoulders.
"Viruses and glitches?" Jeremy muttered to himself once again looking at his friend's scars, "Does he mean-"
"His depression." the Squip finished for him
" But that doesn't make sense...I thought your soul purpose was to make MY life better so why this, why do this after you pushed him out of my life!" Jeremy said more angry than ever.
"Because Jeremy, if Micheal is truly important to you, then making him truly happy is bound to improve your life!" Squip said in response.
"Truly happy? what the hell are you-" Jeremy started once again to be interrupted
"Jeremy Jeremy, its just like what you were thinking before, you hurt Micheal, beyond repair. Even so, before with the past he had, he only continued on for you and you only he was never truly happy. Do you really think he won't relapse after all of this?"
Jeremy rose him arm once again ready to finish, this not believing the Squip's lie's. As he rose his arm, his eyes locked with Micheal, his eyes sparkling with new life and something that Jeremy had never seen but could recognize by experience.
Happiness
Jeremy lower his arm away from his lips and spoke
"Your telling me... Micheal will only be truly happy... if you stay?" Jeremy said not sure what to do now.
"If it improves your life, then yes." the Squip said reassuringly.
With that and hesitation, Jeremy extended his hand with the dew. Finally with one more look into the eyes of his best friend...
He poured the contents of the bottle onto the ground
"Glad we could come to an agreement, Jeremy Heere." the Squip stated and with that he vanished into pixels. At the same time, all of the students and teachers returned to their seat in to atrium including Micheal as if nothing had happen.
"Jeremy are you coming? Its show time!" Christine said coming out of nowhere.
"Yeah I'm coming-" Jeremy said as he made his way to the stage, then with one final look at Micheal who was giving him a reassuring nod, he finished
"Only for him"
