2D and Noodle were sitting in front of the TV, trying to find something interesting to watch. "Try Cartoon Network, they might have something." She suggested. 2D switched the channel, but the commercials were on. Noodle sighed. "You wanna just watch a movie instead?" 2D asked. "Sure." Noodle said, getting up to look at the DVD selection. "It's funny, we've all changed at least a little bit since we split up." Noodle said, flipping through the cases. "I wouldn't say we've all changed. What about Murdoc? He's still the same." 2D argued. "Well for one he hasn't really hit you yet." Noodle pointed out.
Little did they know that Murdoc had been standing behind them. He was going to get a beer from the fridge, but Noodle's statements had made him think.
"Hm, I guess he hasn't." 2D said, unaware that Murdoc was ready to whack him in the head. "It's kinda nice, not having to hide in my room all the time." 2D admitted.
Murdoc froze, letting 2D's words sink in. "It really is nice, but I'm sure it won't last forever." 2D sighed.
Murdoc quickly, but quietly left the room. Finally realizing how he made 2D feel. He paced around his room trying to figure out a way to let the singer know he cared without actually making too obvious.
For the next week, Murdoc did his best not to even threaten 2D. As the week progressed, it became harder.

"It's almost as if he was listening!" 2D said to Noodle as he paced from one end of the studio to the other. "Yeah it is kinda weird." She said, taking a handful of Doritos. "It's actually kinda concerning. I mean, I'm not trying to say I miss being beaten, but... Murdoc isn't acting like himself. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm kinda worried about him." 2D tried to make sense of what was going on.
Once again, Murdoc was eves dropping on their conversion. He once again went back to his room and tried to find a way to act how the singer wanted.
He heard a loud thud come from outside his room. He opened the door to look out at what had caused the noise. Outside his room stood 2D, hopping on one foot, his melodica on the floor. "Who's making all that racket?!" He screamed. 2D flinched, and fell as he tried to turn around. "M-Mud- I mean- Murdoc! I-I'm sorry, my melodica fell on my foot and-" "I'm trying to sleep here!" Murdoc yelled. 2D looked down at his watch. "At 2:40 in the afternoon?" He asked suspiciously. Murdoc faked a look of anger towards 2D. "I-I'm sorry! I'll leave you alone." 2D got up, but shortly tipped over the melodica. Murdoc slammed the door, hoping he wasn't being too harsh so soon.

Murdoc spent the rest of the day in his room. He heard someone walk by his room again, then heard them knock on 2D's door. "Sorry to bug you again, but-" he heard the singer say. He then heard the door slam.
"Why couldn't you have come back to the studio?" Noodle asked 2D. "I couldn't risk being screamed at, or followed." 2D explained. "I swear, he's listening to us!" Noodle started to think 2D was getting paranoid. "But-" "hang on a second..." 2D interrupted Noodle.
2D opened the door expecting to see Murdoc, but Murdoc was on the other side of the door. 2D slowly closed the door, still suspicious.
"So I say that I like not being beaten, he doesn't beat me. I say he isn't acting like himself, and then minutes later he screams at me. What the bloody hell is going on with him!?" 2D said. "How much do you wanna bet that if I said I wished we could put a kazoo solo in... say..." "Dare?" Noodle suggested. "Dare. Say I said 'oh I wish we could put a kazoo solo in DARE.' Murdoc would run out and buy a kazoo. How much do you wanna bet?" 2D asked. "I don't know, but it'd be pretty funny to see him try and play a kazoo." Noodle laughed.
2D sighed. "After dinner I'm gonna try and get him to tell me what's going on." 2D declared. Murdoc hadn't heard that last part, because he was too busy contemplating whether or not he could see himself buying a kazoo. "Sounds like a good idea. Oh speaking of which, what is for dinner?" Noodle asked. "We're ordering pizza." 2D said. "Right, forgot it was movie night."

Dinner was nothing more than predictable for 2D. Murdoc yelled at him for no specific reason, tried to throw his beer at the singer, and eventually fell asleep out of lack of interest in the movie.
Once it was over, Murdoc handed his plate to 2D and went off into his room. "Don't worry, I'll take care of these. You go figure out what's going on." Noodle said, taking the dirty dishes out of her friend's hands.
2D hesitantly approached the confusing bassist's room. He was about to knock on the door, but a memory came back to him.

He had ran into his room to hide from Murdoc, who had already beaten him up quite badly. He heard footsteps coming from outside. The bruised and terrified singer sat on the floor cowering. He flinched and tenses up as he heard a gentle knock on the door. "D, it's Russ. Can I come in?" He heard Russel ask.
2D slowly made his way to the door to let the drummer in. When he opened the door, he noticed that Russel was holding a first aid kit. "I figured this might help." He said, holding it up.
Russel came in and tried to help 2D recover from the attack. "Why do you keep trying to reason with him? He's impossible to negotiate with. I mean, I know you've always kinda looked up to him. But why? Why look up to someone who treats you this badly?" Russel asked. "I...um..." 2D sighed. "Oh. You don't just look up to him, do you?" 2D nodded in shame.

2D came back to reality, shaking the memory out of his head.
He quietly knocked on Murdoc's door.
He heard a few objects fall, but the door quickly opened. Murdoc stared at 2D, waiting for him to say something.
"What do you want, faceace?" He asked. "I-I just wanted to talk." 2D said. Murdoc shrugged. "About what?" "Well, you've been acting kinda strange lately, and it kinda seems like you're eavesdropping on conversations I'm having with Noodle..." 2D explained. "Y-you haven't exactly been acting like yourself lately." Murdoc looked around the hallway, then pulled 2D into his room.
2D would've looked around, this having been the first time in Murdoc's room, but was too dazed. "Look, I don't know what if is you wang from me, but you better make up your mind. 'Cause I can't keep going back and forth between nice and mean like that." Murdoc said. 2D stared at him, confused. "S-so you have been listening to us! Why do you all of a sudden care what I think and feel?" 2D asked, desperate for answers. "I don't know, why do you care about me?" Murdoc asked.
2D was speechless. Was he really that obvious? Or did Murdoc just make a conclusion. "Wha-h-how did you-were you-how do you know?" "I kinda started suspecting it after that one night when Russ helped you get better. Cause I saw you come out, and I'd never seen you look more heartbroken." Murdoc admitted. "S-so you knew from there... w-why'd you keep hurting me?" 2D asked. Murdoc sighed. "I figured if I could scare you away... I wouldn't feel so bad about everything I'd put you through. Even though it just made me feel worse... But it was wrong of me, I'm sorry. And I can change." Murdoc insisted.
2D couldn't believe what he had just heard. Murdoc was actually apologizing to him, and sounded like he meant it. He had so many questions, but didn't know where to start. "Come here," Murdoc said, hugging the singer.
Did this mean that they were together? Did Murdoc really feel the same way? Was this all just some sick joke his mind was playing on him? 2D was so confused, but he didn't dare interrupt whatever was really happening. He hugged Murdoc back, and from that day on, the two of them were no longer enemies of any sort.

2D and Murdoc figured it'd be best not to let their relationship get in the way of the band's success, so they decided to act as if nothing had changed between them (only around Russel and or Noodle of course). Murdoc would pretend to get all upset over something 2D had done, 2D would pretend to panic, they would pretend that they had gotten into a fight, and then 2D would run to his room and pretend to cry.
They actually did a good job of keeping this act up. Every now and then one of Russel or Noodle would notice them acting strangely, but they always came up with a good and (at least to themselves) reasonable explanation. This worked every time they had slipped up, but one day, there was no excuse to hide behind as one of their band members found out about their secret relationship.
