"I'm going to the grocery store to get lunch for the next few days." Russel told Noodle, the only other person who was awake. "Can I come? I think we're almost out of Doritos." She asked. "Sure." Russel told her.
"Hold on," She said, looming over an empty piece of paper. "I wanna write a note for 2D and Murdoc, so they know where we are." She explained. "Well don't take forever." Said Russel.
Once she finished writing the note, she followed Russel to the car, and went to the store.
2D poked his head outside his room, wondering who left the house. He made his way to the door, but a small note caught his eye. He picked it up and read it.
"2D and Murdoc- Russel and I went to go get groceries for the next few days (and Doritos). Be back soon! -Noodle"
2D smiled, because the note confirmed that Murdoc and himself were the only two people in Kong Studios.
He ran back to his room and informed Murdoc of the note. "Then we have nothing to worry about." He said. "But... it only said 'be back soon!' Soon could be anywhere from a second to-" "Shhhhhhh." Murdoc said, putting a finger in 2D's lips. "If you're that concerned, we'll just be extra careful." He whispered."Okay so we need to get lunch meat, cheese, bread, sodas, and snack foods." Noodle read off the list. "I'll get lunch meat and cheese, you get bread and snack foods, then we'll meet up and get sodas together." Russel suggested. "Sounds like a plan to me!"
"Murdoc in what way is that being careful?" 2D asked Murdoc, who was still in bed. "You're not being any fun right now. You know that?" He said, beckoning 2D to come back into the half empty bed. "Murdoc! What if we're caught? What if-" "Oh come on." Murdoc grabbed 2D by the arm and pulled him closer. 2D shrieked as he fell face first onto the mattress. He looked up at Murdoc, looked at his slimy green, broken nosed, zombie-like, grinning face. "Let's have some fun, shall we?" He said.
"Hm, should we get cool ranch, or the original? Oh! Or how about this cheeseburger one! Oh maybe-" "I think original will do just fine." Russel said, grabbing the party sized bag of Doritos. "Okay." Noodle said all upset. "Don't forget, we need sodas." Russel reminded her. "Oh! How's Murdoc's beer supplies? I thought I heard him say he's running low." Noodle exclaimed. "Damn, I need to bring you here more often." Russel said.
Murdoc had 2D pinned down to the bed. He stared at the blue haired man he used to hate. He sensed a look of fear in his eyes, and wondered why it was. He figured it must've had something to do with the shriek that came out of him as he fell. Or maybe he was still worried about Russel and Noodle returning quicker than they usually did when on a grocery run. Whatever had caused it, Murdoc thought, was nothing to worry about. Although he wondered if he still scared 2D. The two of them had agreed to, around others, pretend that nothing had changed. This meant that 2D and himself had to give the illusion that he still beat 2D. Murdoc would bring his fist close enough to 2D's face that it might look like it actually hit him, even though it didn't. Maybe 2D thought that things hadn't really changed. Murdoc hoped this wasn't the case. He would never forgive himself if it was.
Noodle ran ahead to open the back of the car for Russel. He was carrying all the grocery bags, and trusted Noodle to start the car. By the time he got to the car, Noodle had had the back open, the car running, and the radio on. "Uh, Russel?" She began. "The car looks like it's getting low on gas." "Oh man." Russel said, getting in the car. "I'll have to fill it up." He thought for a minute. "I'll drop you off with the food, and go get gas for the car." He said. "Okay!" Noodle agreed.
2D was still shaken up from what Murdoc did, because it reminded him of the days when Murdoc used to hate him. Murdoc would hit him, choke him, throw things at him, anything to cause him harm. He would always grab 2D's arm, to ensure he couldn't run away. 2D was so glad those days were behind them, but still feared that Murdoc would be an abusive partner. While this hadn't been proven true yet, it surely hadn't been proven impossible.
"You sure you don't need help?" Russel asked Noodle, her face covered by grocery bags. "Nope! I've got it!" She assured him. "See you soon then!" He said, driving away.
Noodle opened the door, bags of food spilling out of her hands. She quickly moved them from the floor to the table. She noticed that the note had been noticed, for it had more writing on it.
"Noodle and Russel- don't forget to get beer, or Murdoc will be angry. Just shout to let us know when you're home. -2D" it read. "2D! Murdoc! I'm home!" Noodle shouted. She heard nothing. "Guys!?" She wandered down the hall. "Murdoc?" She opened the door to Murdoc's room, but he wasn't there. "Murdoc? Where are you?" She shouted. "Probably just in the bathroom." Noodle thought to herself.
She knocked on 2D's door quietly, as to not wake him up should he have gone back to sleep. Quietly opening the door, she noticed 2D's naturally blue hair come out from under the blanket. There was another figure in the bed, who Noodle could not identify. She could now see 2D's face, which looked terrified. She saw his lips move, but could not make out what the word was.
"Sorry, what'd you say love?" Murdoc asked 2D. "N...Noodle." He squeaked out. Murdoc turned around to see the young girl's silhouette standing in the doorway.
Noodle saw a look of embarrassment, and fear in both 2D and Murdoc's faces. She slowly started to back out of the room, traumatized by what she had just witnessed.
Noodle sprinted out the room, probably going to alert Russel of what she saw. Murdoc sighed. "Can we even make up an excuse this time?"
Noodle his under the dining room table, trying to calm herself down. "This is just a dream, none of this is real, yeah, it's not real." She whispered to herself.
"Noodle," she heard 2D's voice say. "I-I swear, it wasn't what it looked like." He lied. Noodle got out from under the table, and looked at the two men. "Then what was it huh? Murdoc just came into your room and started hitting you?" She asked. Neither of them said anything. "Is that the lie you're gonna tell me?" She snapped. 2D sighed. "Muds, I don't think we can hide it from her anymore." He said.
