The sun was rising gradually from the horizon as Rose lifted her head from her pillow, a smile spreading across her face. Her older brother Cedric was still asleep which meant that she could go and wake him up. And that, meant trouble...
She quickly jumped out of her bed, yanked her bedroom door open and sprinted down the stairs to the kitchen. "I must have woken up early today," she said to herself laughing as she realised no one was downstairs yet. Usually she was the one who woke up last. Rose walked to the kitchen counter and grabbed a tall jug from the cupboard above it. She then put the jug under the tap and instantly, water began pour out from one of the spouts. You see, Rose's family was not a muggle one. In fact, her family was full of witches and wizards. Some things in her house were bewitched to work without a user. In this case, the tap didn't need to be switched on. Although magic was controlled with a wand, rose did not have one yet. At least, she wasn't going to have possession of one unless she was accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. If she was accepted, she would receive the letter the next day.
Anyway, when the jug was filled with icy water, she ran back up the stairs and burst into Cedric's room. She then climbed onto his bed and emptied the jug over his head.
"Rose!!!" Cedric yelled. His head popped up from his pillow. Rose giggled endlessly at the face Cedric had pulled when she did the trick. "You naughty little girl! I'll get you back when you least expect it my little Rosey!" He joked playfully.
Throwing Rose over his shoulder, he raced out of his room and down the stairs into the kitchen. He threw her down onto the sofa and sat beside her grinning. "Hey, Ced?" Rose asked, her breath still uneven from laughing so hard. "Yes, Rosey?" He said smiling at her.
"I'm worried Ced. What if I don't get my letter tomorrow? Every witch or wizard is supposed to get it on their eleventh birthday and I'm just a bit anxious that they might forget me or not accept me because I'm not magic enough..." Rose blurted out quickly.
"Oh come on Rose! Of course you will get your letter! How could they forget you! You've got a wonderful big brother who goes to Hogwarts already - and that wonderful big brother is me! So, don't be worried because I've already got half of the teachers excited to meet my little baby sister! Hogwarts is waiting for you Rosey. Always remember that."
After hearing those words, Rose was no longer worried. She knew she could always rely on her brother. No matter what. Even in the littlest problems, just like now.

THE NEXT DAY
Rose awoke the next day with Cedric shaking her gently. She sprang up from her bed, quickly remembering that today was her birthday! She leaped onto Cedric's back and he carried her down the stairs to the kitchen, only to see their father, Amos, sitting on by the table with a warm mug of tea stirring by itself. "Oh my little girl! She's finally 11! Happy birthday my Rosey!" Amos cheered happily. She jumped off of her brother's back and ran to give her father a hug.
"Daddy! Thank you!" She squealed cheerily.
"Here, come take a seat you two. I've got something I think will make you very happy!" Their father exclaimed.
He quickly waved his wand and muttered the word "accio". A letter addressed to Rose flew into his hand. He handed the letter to Rose who then beckoned Cedric to take a closer look with her. As soon as Cedric saw the letter, a massive grin spread across his face. Curly emerald green writing was inked along a page of parchment declaring that Miss Rose Diggory had been accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry! After reading the letter, the family quickly sent an owl to reply to the letter with an acceptance confirming that Rose would be joining Hogwarts this year. After a small celebration and many debates and discussions over whether Rose would be sorted into Hufflepuff house (which Cedric strongly believed Rose would be in) or one of the others. The next day, she and Cedric would go to purchase their school supplies in Diagon Alley.
Rose had never been more content.
She had been accepted. And right now, that was all that mattered.
