"You're an idiot, You know that right?"

Jack look at me where I'm sat next to him in the car, my head leaned against the window as he drove along the motorway.

"No rephrase, I'm a genius and actually everyone knows that"

I pick up my phone as it vibrate in my lap, a picture from Conor with Leonelle coming through. My heart melt as I watch the two of them trying to make a cake for the evening, the problem being neither of them knew how to cook.

"Does he suspect anything?"

Jack check his mirrors before he turn right and onto a smaller road.

"Nahh nothing at all, he thinks I'm in London for work, still he was a bit disappointed when he only got a card this morning"

We'd always been generous when it came to birthdays, we bought each other big presents and even though we never asked the other one for something special did we always seem to go overboard with it all.

"I still don't understand why I agreed to do this"

He tap his fingers on the wheel and I just laugh, the fact that I'd managed to convince my best friend to help me get the perfect birthday surprise for my boyfriend was a miracle in its own way.

"You're just jealous over the fact that you aren't getting any"

"I actually am, You know I love them and in fact, it's my birthday in two days just so you know"

Jack wink and I just shake my head, he doesn't have a clue about what I'd planned

.........

"Oh my god, they're literally the cutest thing I've ever seen"

The small fur-balls, tumbled around on the floor, play fighting with each other.

"You're lucky, these two are the only ones left"

The lady smile as I crouch down to pat one of the kittens, Jack had already managed to pick the other one up, holding it tight against his chest as he kissed its nose.

"They're brothers, right?"

I stand up from the floor and follow the woman into his office to sign the papers, leaving Jack with the kittens.

"Yes they are, just sign here please and we'll get them home to you as quickly as possible, it's quite a far bit back to Brighton from here"

Grabbing the pen do I sign the papers for the two kittens, handing the money before we go back out to the large room.

"You ready to go Jack?"

He pout as I bring out the travel crate that I'd brought with me from home.

"I want this one so bad"

Jack give the ginger kitten one last kiss before he puts it down in the crate together with its brother.

Smiling do I pick the crate up before I shake the lady's hand, promising to take good care of them.

"You are literally mad, like you just bought to kittens without your boyfriend's permission"

Jack shake his head as he start the car, my heart beating fast as I think of Conor's reaction. He'd always loved cats, still I'm scared it'll bring up bad memories from his relationship with Victoria. They'd split up rather abruptly after he bought Aslan and Salem and even though the scars from that relationship were healed now was it still a thought lurking in the back of my mind.

"It wouldn't be a surprise if I asked him first"

I look back at the new family members in the backseat. The two of them now lying curled up asleep, looking just like two balls of fur. Now we just had to drive the two hours back to Brighton to deliver the presents.
