Paper Hearts {Vernon of Seventeen}

     “LOOK (Y/N)!,” my friend HeeYoung shouts. I look up to see a paper heart taped to my locker. It was the week leading up to Valentine's day and White’s day. So our school decided that students could stick paper hearts on others lockers. Whether they were friends, dating, or a crush.

     She giggles and grabs the heart looking at it. “Hey! That's meant for me!,” I shout grabbing the heart as she starts laughing. “I just wanted to see! Chill,” she chuckles. I roll my eyes and look at the heart. It had small flowers drawn with a little note. I think you're beautiful♡

I blush lightly and place the heart in my locker. “Soo~ what did it say?,” HeeYoung questions. I laugh and close my locker, “Nothing! So~ how's your relationship with S.coups?”She smiles leaning against the locker next to mine. “It's great! He's sweet, funny and he gets along with everyone! He's perfect for me,” she sighs dreamily and I laugh.

“You're love stuck HeeYoung. It's cute.” She smiles looking behind me and waves. I turn around and see a few of our friends with a boy I haven't formally met. But I do know he's in my math class.

“Sup guys! Get any hearts today?,” HeeYoung asks. Junhui smiles holding up three, Soonyoung holds up two and Nicole holds up one. “What about you Vernon?” He shakes his head, smiling with and light pink blush. “No I haven't, but I put one on my crush's locker.”
“YOU DID!?! DID SHE SEE IT YET?!?” Junhui and Soonyoung shout in unison. HeeYoung, Vernon and Nicole laugh. “I think so, I don't see it on her locker so yes?,” he laughs. Nicole and HeeYoung smirk looking at him while I stand confused.

Nicole throws her arm around his shoulders, “You going to confess with paper hearts? Cute! Who gave you that idea?” Vernon nods then points to S.coups as he walks by. Nicole and I laugh. “Of course,” Nicole scuffs. “Well I hope she says yes Vernon,” HeeYoung chirps. She looks at me and pulls me closer as S.coups places his arm on her waist.

“Vernon, I'm not sure you know but this is my friend Natalie! She's She's a first year like you.” He and I smile. “Yeah, I know her we have the math together,” Vernon says holding out his hand for me to shake it. I smile taking his hand in mine and shaking it. “Hey.”

I hear harsh whispers between Junhui and Soonyoung then see HeeYoung whack them and say something. “ARE YOU SERIOUS?! HE LIED TO ME!,” I hear Soonyoung shout and a loud smack sound. “SHUT UP!,” Nicole, HeeYoung and S.coups yell.

“What are you on about?,” I question. They all look about at each other then to me. The bell rings before they answer. The all see it as an opportunity to ignore my question and almost sprit to class. I sigh and look to Vernon. “Looks like class is going to start soon. I'll walk with you,” Vernon offers. I smile politely and nod. “Sure. I'd like that.”

~DURING LUNCH BREAK~

     “I can't believe you Vernon! I thought you trusted me! I'm your hyung! But you tell them first!,” Soonyoung goes being dramatic and points to HeeYoung and S.coups as they laugh. “So? I'm his noona and S.coups is his hyung and your's! Guess he just trust us more,” HeeYoung sassies sticking out her tongue.

     I laugh as I sit down at our table while Vernon groans following in my actions. Everyone laughs and gives each other a quick knowing look. “Can you guys hush! She might hear or start to catch on!,” Vernon hisses. Junhui and Soonyoung snicker and smirk to each other. I quickly glance at HeeYoung and see she does the same. We both knew that wasn't a good sign.

“No,” HeeYoung and I say in unison. Everyone looks at us in confusion. “Why not~,” Junhui and Soonyoung whine at the same time. HeeYoung shakes her head as we stand up. “Little shits we know you're planning shit, answer is NO!”

She and I get our stuff and walk away. Knowing well if we stay someone is going to get in trouble. “I don't know what they're planning but it can't be good,” I state as we walk away and into the hallway. We both chat as we walk around. After a while we reach my locker and I hear her squeal. “What are you-” she cuts me off my point to my locker and pushing me.

     My mouth gapes as I see two paper hearts on my locker and Vernon leaning against the one next to mine. “Hey Vernon… when did you get here?,” I ask walking to my locker. He shrugs,”Few minutes ago.” He then smiles to me with light pink cheeks, “You got two hearts, you should read them.”

I nod my head grabbing the first heart. I really like you (Y/N) will you go out with me?♡ I blush looking to Vernon, he simply grabs the other heart off my locker and holds it out to me. I look to the heart. It had two boxes for yes, the other for no.

“Well? What do you say (Y/N). Yes or No?,” he asked nervousness in his voice. I smile grabbing the pen from my pocket checking the box. Before he could look at the answer I take the heart. “Close your eyes,” he gives me a look and complies closing his eyes. I blush and get on my tiptoes placing a quick kiss to his lip gently.

When we pull apart were both red in the face. He smiles taking the heart back and sticking it on my locker. “Come on, we should tell Soonyoung,” he says wrapping his arm around my waist. I laugh,”Why just Soonyoung?” He chuckles and shakes his head as we walk to class.

      “Because he's still upset I didn't tell him I liked you first,” he shrugs shaking his head. I blush and laugh. “Well I'm glad you asked me out… he's going rub it in S.coups and HeeYoung’s face.” We both laugh and Vernon nods. “Yes, yes he is.”
