About thirty minutes had gone by as i stood there at my mother's bedroom doorway waiting for some kind of approval to leave and crawl back in bed. It was too early for this. I stayed quiet watching her as she intensely analyzed her potential outfit in her full body mirror..i assume for her date tonight with another rich moron? I didn't want to be here. Just standing here made me feel like some cold hearted mannequin watching through a glass window in an extravagant retail that no smart person should want to afford especially in our condition, we lived in a small one and a half bedroom and half a bath apartment but that doesn't stop my mother from spending religiously, whenever and however she pleased. She loved that glamorous lifestyle...no...she needed it. Massive sparkling diamonds , excessive amount of makeup and jewelry , expensive shoes anything that could possibly compliment her and her appearance and that's just who she was and she wouldn't let anyone take that away from her. Even if that meant neglecting her only child. I didn't want to be here knowing that she never even once liked any of my opinions anyway.
" Lolaaa.. earth to Lola ?!.. did you hear me?! "
" Huh..? " i replied
" Jesus fucking christ... get over here and help me pick out a outfit, 'ya know i hate it when you just stand there in my doorway like a no brain zombie you're no good to me all the way over there silly girl "
" Sure.." i sighed
" Here help zip this dress up.."
While standing near her back i could smell her everlasting pungent perfume. (Thus is why i stood so far away..). I wanted to say out loud. Her dress was a sparkled black dress that peaked not too much cut above her knees and showing just enough , that was corseted to fit her luscious waist and breast well and a thinly laced transparent sleeve top that draped from her shoulders displaying her bare neck. She looked really ...pretty. I've seen my mother in fancy clothes all the time but i guess her beauty shoned well in this, complimenting her long dark brown chestnut curly hair and brown hazel eyes.
" Done. " i said
Now the waiting part i thought to myself as i sat on the edge of her bed.
Awkward silence hovered the air in long seconds.
"Well.. what do you think ? " she said while still analyzing herself in her mirror.
" It's pretty , it reminds me of stars "
She abruptly paused her eyes from herself and fixed eye contact with me from rear view, and chuckled. " Wow Lola that's probably the most girl- ish thing you have ever said... "
She inhaled and exhaled deeply and proceeded to analyze.
" No... i'm not feeling this one too much for tonight. "
She turned around and pointed to some two other dresses ; a dark blue flowery dress and a red long train with long sleeves and a classy v neck that laid on her bed.
" What about that red dress there though ? Isn't it so gorgeous ? "
" Eh.. it looks ok " i said effortless.
She sighed and seriously turned back to her mirror and exhaled deeply as she thought in seconds of silence.
" ...Hm... i think im just gonna go with the red one " , as she said in a very strict and decisively manner almost teenager like. She then turned around and picked up her dress to showcase openly with a wide smile.
She teased " I sure do hope you're taking notes lola so you'll be prepared when the right man comes along "ya knoww... "
" Yeah maybe..."
