'So they dug your grave, And the masquerade

Will come calling out, At the mess you've made'

It's been over two weeks since she last saw Luke and Genna seemed to hate her life even more than she had before, if that was even possible. Luke had tried many times to apologise but she just didn't want to hear it.

She hated herself more than she hated him. She hated herself for being so naive, she hated herself for believing him, but most of all...

She hated herself for falling for him.

She still visited the library as usual except she would never sit at the large table in the back, she would find a secluded book isle somewhere in the middle, an isle that nobody would ever go down. She would sit there on the floor with her legs pulled up to her chest and her head sunk into a book.

It pained her even more when she would hear Diana's voice echoing through the isolated halls, melodramatically laughing at something Luke said. Sure he still visited the place, it was his getaway as much as it was hers.

She felt hopelessly alone and annoyed at the fact that she had actually begun to feel sorry for herself. Hearing their conversation flood down the isles made her blood boil. He sat there with Diana acting as if Genna had never existed, all those words that he said must've meant nothing, he might as well have been the one who dug her grave because she felt like she would end up being in one sooner than she had hoped.

She wanted it gone. She wanted it all over, all of it, just to end. No more pain, fear, hatred...no more feelings towards him. Nothing, nothing at all.

The masquerade of people she had known all her life were never really fond of her in the first place. They were all fake towards her, acting as if they had any love for her at all, the love that her real parents had for her.

When she left the library that evening she was unaware of the fact that Luke spotted her and excused himself from Diana, telling her a quick white lie to stop her from following him.

She headed to 'Dawn Lake' a large pool of water that sat in the centre of the local park guarding a small island of green in the centre where small ducks would nest.

In the winter it would usually freeze over and only the daring would skate over it, risking their lives just to have a little fun. She wished she could risk her life just for the fun of it, to have the adrenaline course through her and make her heart beat one hundred miles an hour, the true feeling of living.

She strolled up to the lake and dropped her backpack on the side of the grass not caring that it splashed in a small pool of mud that was created from the past few days of rain. Sighing loudly she took steps closer to the edge of the water, she knew it got deeper the further she walked into it.

She placed one foot in the water, feeling the ice cold liquid soak into her socks and shoes immediately making her shiver.

She took another step. Then another. Then another, until the water was a little over her waist. She could already feel her body becoming numb to the cold sensation, and couldn't stop shivering, but she was almost there, there was no turning back.

The clouds were grey and the park was isolated, no birds were in the sky and not sound became audible to her ears. It was as if everybody was secretly watching and waiting for her to go.

She turned around taking a look at the grass where her bag sat, drenched in mud. She squinted her eyes to the distance when she made out a silhouette walking towards the lake, running his hands through his hair as he turned his head from left to right continuously as if lost or looking for something.....or someone.

He had not noticed her, but she had noticed him.

She took a deep breath in and just before his eyes could spot her in the water....

She went under.
