CHAPTER 8

Charlie POV.

Just as the door had hardly closed an elderly lady in a bed was wheeled in to the other side of the room. I was happy to be alone but should have expected another person to be sharing this room. Two nurses wheeled in the unconscious lady and set her on the other side of the room. She looked sweet and peaceful there and I wish I could fall into sleep as well but I had too much on my mind. Before the nurses exited they pulled the curtain closed between our two beds and departed. I sighed and breathed in the hospital scent I had so hated during my childhood. It brought back too many memories and I let the tears fall. As my second tear had fallen I felt the door open again. I rubbed my eyes to reveal Niall creeping into my room. I knew this would be coming. But I couldn’t deal with this at the moment. Niall quietly closed the door behind him and walked to my bed hastily.

“Hey there, I just needed to talk to you quickly,” He whispered

“Where are the others?” I questioned.

“Oh they’re getting something to eat from the kiosk before we go so I quickly came back here.” I smiled as he continued,” Listen Charlie, you need to tell me what’s going on? You know I care about you and it is driving me crazy not knowing!” I was about to interrupt Niall continued, “No Charlie! Don’t say you don’t know what’s going on! Harry and the others may buy it but I don’t! I know that there is something going on that you aren’t telling us about.”

I looked around nervously and I felt my heart rate increase.

“Listen Niall…I don’t know what’s going on… Honestly! We’ll know tomorrow when the tests come, please Niall…” I whimpered,” Just leave it till tomorrow.”

“Ok…” he answered glumly, “How are you Charles? You really had me freaking out when you fainted.”

I smiled weakly.

“Yeah I’ll live…”

“That’s good, Just letting you know Charlie that…that if there is something you aren’t tell me I want you to realize you can tell me anything! I mean anything-“

“Niall-” I interrupted

“No listen Charlie, I know we nearly had something and I know I stuffed it up but just being friends with you has made me one of the happiest boys in the world. Not to sound cheesy or anything but…You really do light up my world” He smiled at me and then gave me a warm hug. I could have stayed in his arms forever. His scent made me feel like I was home in his arms and I felt that when he let go I would fall apart.

“I’m here whenever you need me Charlie, remember that! Always! Even if we leave and go off on tour again I will always be available. Charlie I care about you so much don’t push me away because you’re scared…please.”

“Niall…” I breathed,” you don’t understand how much this means to me!” I whimpered as I let a few tears go.

It is then that a cranky nurse came it telling him that he now had to leave. With that he was ushered out of my room and I was alone. I sat and stared at the blank wall and wallowed in my loneliness when a voice jolted me.

“You two are very cute together.” A sweet old voice said. It must have been the lady next to me. I chuckled.

“Oh no!” I defended,” we aren’t together”
